After a while of browsing about for a harp case, I found that one of those available online is made from a small case readily available at Harbor Freight, with the addition of some plexi dividers. I decided to try my hand (and my patience) by attempting to build something similar. I bought the box for $16 and a sheet of acrylic for $10, and here is how it turned out:

It isn't quite as nice as the commercial version, but it holds my harps, mic, and gadgets, so it will do for now!

Uh... that last photo was supposed to be a very small signature photo, not a giant anatomical exposition of the upper GI track of marine life. I'm still figuring out this HTML photo posting process.

Probably to cut the vertical grooves in the plexi glass would be my guess.

I drilled the end point of each slot at the center line and then cut to each side of the hole with a jigsaw. There is probably a more elegant and faster way of doing this, but I'm just happy to have finished the project with all my fingers still attached.

Yeah well I like the fish. I'm all for homemade solutions...I guess it does the job. I used to use a flour sack. That didnt really do the job. I think it's way cool making your own stuff. Do you put your harps in their boxes, in the case? ----------

Thanks, SuperBee. The holes are a little smaller than a harp box or pouch, and I just drop in the harps, mic, and my digital recorder. They don't seem to rattle around much.

It may have made your life a little easier if you had bought a length of bathroom waste pipe and just cut say 5 inch lengths and stuck them together to make your compartments. It may not look quite so nice but it would have saved you some time. It looks good though.

Use #1472 for empty Crown Royal bags. I'm with you there. Half the fun is making the bag empty before re-appropriating. ---------- Go ahead and play the blues if it'll make you happy. -Dan Castellaneta

Looks nice.
As for the giant fish picture, probably the easiest way to resize it is to do it offline. Just upload it into any picture editing program, select all, and there should be a resize option in the menu. There is an HTML fix, but it requires the browser to resize it every time someone loads the page, which means every time it displays it will make the page load a little slower.
edit: (Of course, then you have to reupload the picture and put the new link in.)

hey tooka2 that was my idea :^) it works OK, but some harps are a tight fit, I need to heat a couple of the pipes and deform them a bit to get the haprs in and out :^( ---------- "Come on Brackett let's get changed"

I got a similar case from harbor freight, but mine came with the foam insert. Works great just opened it up and plucked foam out to make space for harps. I think it's this one. http://www.harborfreight.com/18-x-12-34-x-6-aluminum-case-69318.html
