His name, according to Answers.com, is MaestroPhil. I'll copy and paste what that site says between the lines below:
_____________________________________________________________

Who is the best harmonica player ever?

Answer:
There is a dedicated young man who is a virtuoso harmonica player in both the diatonic and chromatic harmonicas by the name of MaestroPhil. Through his thorough knowledge of music he has mastered the instrument and made a name for himself worldwide. All the eyes are upon him in the harmonica world because of his dexterity, clarity and extraordinary use of bends and rhythmic anomalies. Maestrophil is considered by Harmonica Player Magazine as the best ever and is a member of their Hall of Fame.

Larry Adler comes to mind.

MaestroPhil is from chicago. I wonder if Joe knows him.

Here's a sound file, no reference to harmonica.: http://www.reverbnation.com/maestrophil

Hmm, I like the video. I'm not sure looking at it though that we can quite take it at face value- I know in the harp demographic my midlife crisis still doesn't qualify me as an 'old man' but 'young man' might be stretching it.

Maestro, if you saw my comment on YouTube and tracked it back here, hello. :)

I am the GREATEST DOG OWNER EVER! My dog calls me 'Master' which I believe is the English for Maestro. This is confirmed by Dog & Master Magazine, to which she subscribes. I can see it in her eyes too.

It ain't me! But these kind of things are subjective. If you limit it to blues harmonica, I think Joe Filisko is the most skilled player ever. He can do everything! But, he didn't INVENT anything (playing wise, we know what he did to customization.) So, from a historical perspective, LIttle Walter beats him hands down.

Jeez! This is the lame-est thread I've ever seen. Why? Because the answer to the question, with all respect to those who may believe otherwise, is obvious and common knowledge, and has been decided just within the last several months, so maybe the news hasn't spread far and wide yet. OK.
Simply put..........I'm the best harmonica player ever. I know this may come as a shock to some of you, but hey, it wasn't my decision. The World Harmonica Conference out of Bern, publishers of Harmonica Player Magazine, as well as many other colloquial and scholarly harmonica treatises, bestowed this honor on me without my even knowing it. But their decision is final and indisputable. AND, it stands forever. What can I say?

If you post a new subject with requests for my autograph, I'll be willing to electronically sign a group autograph in the interest of fairness to all, so that no single person can ever capitalize on the soaring and inevitable value of my scripted John Hancock. No Problem. I'm happy to do it.

Know it ain't me. MaestroMan is pretty good, but not any better than any number of other youtube vids I have seen recently.

I was driving late the other night and heard a harp solo on a Muddy Waters song that blew my mind, but I haven't had time to track it down so I don't know which of his sidemen it was.

I went to MaestroPhil's website. He's creative, if nothing else:

Here's how he describes his compositional triumphs, always in the third person:

"He has written in pi/4 time with Pi (3.1459...) being the numerator of the time signature. Written several symphonies and Tone Poems for full orchestra"

"He has designed a system of new music using rules and chords of his own creation. Based on Quatral harmony and altered bass notes , a new system has emerged which stands alone and separate from traditional harmony. This new system is not dissonant or atonal."

We modern blues harmonica members agonize over what it means to play MODERN blues harmonica. This guy plays harmonica, and there can't be any doubt he's modern. Who's gonna invite him to join the forum?

Cheers,

So he uses pi in his time signature. I couldn't live with myself if I failed to point out that is irrational.

BTW, remember when Elaine was going out with a guy who insisted on being addressed as 'maestro' in Seinfeld?
