I guess this is my introduction post...

Back to harmonica after a decades long break. Musically, the last decade has been dominated by guitar (electric - blues/jazz) & a bit of drum work.

I have to say I have been having a great time the last few months. I dug up my old Marine bands from 40+ years ago & they didn't look so hot, so decided to start from scratch again. I'm testing a few brands, mostly in C , one in A and one in D. Nice stuff out there.
I have a shop for my business & so I couldn't resist tinkering for my first mic. In this pic…

...I used a prescription bottle, the mic out of a 1990's Panasonic phone handset, and other stuff I had lying around. I got lazy & skipped the volume pot. I think I'll save that for another, cleaner "build". After taming the feedback, it sounds amazingly good.

With all the guitar equipment, of course I have some mics & tried them, too (545 was the best) - not bad, but I did luck out & got a Astatic JT30 at a reasonable price. I like that a LOT better. On my GA-20 with the volume at 8 and the tone at 12 o'clock it's kinda raucous….

I'll have some questions about that later, too - or another post.
