I currently have a Kay 703 with a line out installed. I use it for small gigs and either plug directly into the PA or have it mic'ed up. During practice though, I don't have this option. I have the ability to pick up a second 703 for very cheap and was wondering what would happen if I linked the two together. Would this option sound off? Would it really double my wattage? Is it worth it overall? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
If you use a "Y" cord to link them. There shouldn't be any real problems. It should sound just "bigger" than it does now. I don't know if it doubles the wattage as such, but it will give you more air pushing on stage which will increase your perceivable volume somewhat. I seem to recall that a few years ago Adam did a YouTube video on doing just that. I think this is the video.
The Y cord is what I was thinking of using. Would it be a more cost effective option to use the amp to drive a separate cabinet to get a louder sound during practice?
By all means, pick up the second amp and see what two linked amps sound like. One thing you can do--something I don't do, but have tried--is run one clean and one with effects.
I don't have any experience with a 703...but I can tell you that I regularly run my Kalamazoo Model 2, which has a line out, directly into the input of my Alamo Fury, run my mic into the 'Zoo's input, and then set the volume on both amps at about 5 with the treb and bass of the Alamo zeroed out. The result is a much beefier volume and room-filling tonality that I cannot attain with either amp indvidually. The one slight downside is that the Alamo, being as of yet an ungrounded amp, puts out a very slight hum. But it's usually neglibgible, and I expect once I get the girl grounded, it'll disappear entirely. Might wanna try this method yourself and see what happens. ----------

Thanks for the responses. The Kay 703 I currently have was overhauled by Brian Admundson, so it has a grounded cord and a line out so it sounds like Hawkeye's idea might work.
