Sherwin, a week or two Adam posted a post about how he's working with a company to set up an electronic tip jar system that people could use to get tips busking, or just for having cool music. Several members have set up accounts. (Adam was asking people to give it a try and give some feedback on it.) If someone posts originals and you like it, you can give them a tip. At this point, most people are early in the stages with it. It would be nice if people linked to a page with some of their music.
Hi Nate, I read that thread, mentioned it on another current 'front page' thread titled humble pie, where I also took 1847 to task about the tip jar link. I do understand the merit and worth of such a system, in the case of it being used by musicians, performers, and so on.
Just not used to it yet, but I believe I'll take Kingobad's advice and lighten up.
I don't see anything wrong with 1847's inclusion of a small "tip" link in his signature. It happens to coincide in this case with somebody else's video, but so what? The market for generosity will determine. The world--and this website--needs people who search the web for really interesting stuff and set it in front of us. If people are willing to toss those "searchers" a small tip for this service, those searchers will work that much harder to unearth cool stuff. A tip is a gift. 1847 isn't capitalizing on something he's found--i.e., selling it. He's allowing those who thrill at what he's found to toss him a buck. Nothing wrong with that.
Of course, nobody may be interested in tipping. That, too, is fine with me.
ok i removed the post, you all are taking this tipjar thing way to serious. for the record sherwin was how they say in new york...busting my balls everybody just relax!

1847..thanks for reminding me of what a novice I was. Maybe I should have a tip jar up for my current thread on throat bending. Some pretty good stuff. Nah...If it helped anyone in any way that's enough for me.
I just saw it as an attempt to see how the service works. It's a lot easier to include the link in your signature than to remember to do it when you post.
