Thought I would kill an hour or so tinkering with pedals at guitar center, so I grabbed my HG2 and harp case with all my gear. Big mistake! It took almost 25 minutes for the clerk to "check in" my gear, and combed through every inch of my case. She asked how long each cable was, dropped both my "blows me away" mics on the floor (aahhhh)!!! etc.
The moral of the story is if you are going to demo any gear, just walk in with a C harp-lol

My friend and I went to Mars Music once to see if we couldn't find him an acoustic bass. We found one, and asked the sales associate if there was a bass amp around somewhere we could practice with. He pointed to a little Blonde Amp. It was a guitar amp. We pointed this out, but he assured us it would be fine.
We plugged in, and he wandered out of the sound proof area. After a couple minutes of playing we started to smell something. Holy smoke... smoke! The house, the house, the house is on fire!
We quickly unplug. The smoke dissipates. We look at each other. Now the sales clerk clearly said we could play through this amp. Will he admit that if we go up and say we melted the amp? Hmm. We quietly walk out of the store. I don't feel guilty about stiffing Mars with the toast, since it was their sales tech who told us to do it, but I do feel kind of bad for anyone who may have bought it afterwards and had problems.
In retrospect I probably should have made an anonymous call to the store after we left, although it has crossed my mind that maybe an unscrupulous vendor was trying to put us on the hook for damaged equipment. Or maybe it was one of those 'What would you do?' hidden camera shoes.
