Up popped a 1957 Gibson GA 5. Got that instead. Looks about 2-3 years old. Lovely gold Gibson nameplate
No hum. Slight hiss. Darn loud!
Will try and post pics later.

@Larry
To embed the pictures so they're visible in the thread, you need to use the HTML tag from photobucket. I'll go ahead and encode it here for you so it's visible.

Nice! This is the amp Charlie Musselwhite used on the Ben Harper album. He bought 2. I just rebuilt the 2nd one for him. With the 12AX7 I could only get the volume to 2; it was very feedbacky. A 12AU7 in its pace allows you to get the volume to 7 and doesn't negatively effect the tremelo. Simple change to make it more harp friendly. ---------- /Greg

Larry, change that power plug, man... You don't wanna get zapped. Have a tech install a 3-prong grounded power cord.

Rick.
Going into a tech Friday for that very reason and a check up.
Greg.
Doesn't have tremolo.
Larry
Could these be original tubes?
Thanks

"Could these be original tubes?"
Back in those days, amp builders tended to keep tube brands the same when fitting them in any given amp. I'd say your RCA's might be original, but the Sylvania might be a replacement. Or vice-versa, the Sylvania original, and the RCA's replacements. ----------

@Larry Nice amp I don't know the 'proper way' to shrink photos so all i do is put the photo onto my desktop then right click it and select "send to email..." Up pops a choice of sizes i choose small or medium. Then when the Email comes up with the photo attached i save the photo to my desktop, put it into Dropbox and viola there i have a photo i can embed.

j-fat... if you are using a Windows computer you can right click and select "Edit." The photo will open in Paint, where you can easily change the size and lots of other things.
Look for the "Resize" link in the upper left. I usually resize photos to 600 pixels wide for use in this forum.
For example, this photo is 600 pixels wide:

1955 Oaktron 6-inch 4-ohm reconed alnico speaker that will be going into my little Marvel amp.
