Got my head out of my combo amp. One, the Duel 212, weighed 80lbs. The last pic is from a Classic 50 weighing 60lbs. I finished the Duel 212 a couple of weeks ago. The head cab matches the combo cab. There is a piece of black plexi in the combo cab where the amp used to sit.

The Classic 50 amp head was done 3 yrs ago. It is a bit more of an industrial look!

What do you think?
Sorry for the quality of pics. This is my first try @ embedding pics. I had to keep resizing them because they were huge when I would put them up on "Practice your forum skills page". Then they were too small. I'm glad I was finally able to get them up, but they don't really show up to well. LOL

The stack looks like a robot. The top two speaker cones are the eyes, and the nice horizontal mouth,... The only problem can see is no one will be looking at it's eyes.

I can just see your poor stack saying, "Hey, I'm up here, bozo!"

@KingoBad
I don't know if it would look right without Stilleto Heels, but maybe...

You're going to have to make the stack bigger then...

Cool! I wish that all of the popular big harp amps were available in a head/cab configuration. Much easier on the back and adds flexibility to use different cabs for different rooms.

I'm all for the separation of cab and head. Orphan, what is the amp with the chicken head knobs?

Is your Duel set up for Harp?
If it is, what did you do to it and how do you like it?

@9000
You are absolutely right IMO.

@SuperBee
That is from a Peavey Classic 50w 4x10. It uses 4 EL84s in the power amp. That along with the amps circuitry makes for an amp with not a lot of bottom and very clean. If you like the sound of harp through PA this is similar. I use it when I play with Praise and Gospel groups. I usually use an EV664 mic in this situation. Then I mic whatever cab I use to PA.It gives me my own personal monitor with plenty of headroom. Reminds me of Todd Parrotts sound. A bullet mic with this rig gives you a more distorted sound and sounds good on a lot of Southern Gospel.

@ Thievin' Heathen
I put a 12ay7 in V1. The power tubes are two 6l6s and two KT88s. I replaced the 12" ceramic spkrs with 12" vintage alnico Utahs. It is not quite as Dirty/Chicago sounding as my HG 50 4x10, but almost. I use a JT30 mic with a CM element into the amp. I don't care for channel 2 as much as channel one. After pulling the head into its own cab, I experimented a lot with the amp settings.

This is what works the best for me and makes it hard to decide which of the two amps I like best for Blues and Rock: I set the mic @ 3/4-full volume and plug into an FX processor, then into a Mackie 402-VLZ3 4-Channel mixer. I use low settings on gain and level on the mixer. I take the mixer main out and into the amp. By using the mixer to lower the size of the signal from the mic, I still get the distortion from the mic and can drive the gain on the amps preamp section a lot harder without the feedback issues. Same for the power section to get power tube saturation. Caution: At this point the amp is Very Loud! I really like the tone I get and I can use the boost without having immediate feedback. Not so without the mixer in front of it. I have also used my HCIII in place of the mixer. Either one is fun.

Thanks for sharing some of your secrets.

I put a 12au7 in V2 on my Bravo and it makes channel 2 a useable option. I have not tried it on my Triumph yet, but it's on my list of things to do.

Thank you Steamrollin Stan. I'm glad you liked the pics. I hope you don't wait until you hit the big time before you get your next amp. I ain't nobody and I'm a looooong way from big time. In fact we might even be neighbors. I live in the alley on the back side of Tough Street...
