Is anyone else having strange problems with YOUTUBE opening pages with advertisement even though all the pop-up blockers are set? It's really pissing me off and I can't seem to find a way to stop it.

I hate the ads too, but I understand that Google paid $1.6 billion for YouTube, a site that the majority of us use for free. You can't blame them for the ads, as they have to make a profit somehow. Otherwise I think we wouldn't have access to what is a great convenience.

YouTube is a business and like any other business it has to be fueled by profits. As long as people continue using YouTube, you will unfortunately have to deal with the adverts.

That's because advertising is inherently irritating. I find sound and vision advertising so irritating that I can't watch. The level of advertising on SBS TV is about my threshold level. More than that, I'm gone.
YouTube...personally I haven't been there for a while, but now i think about it I noticed my drummer mate getting annoyed with it yesterday. So something changed hey.

I don't mind advertising when it is interesting. I hate boring ads about products I never use. If every harmonica video had an add that at least had something to do with music, or even Dremel tools, I'd pay a lot more attention.

I just wait for the bit that says skip add in 5 seconds, the adds are usually cookied along with some crap i looked at in my netsurfing moments, like junk mail, or persistent time life lottery winning tickets that are meaningless, yt has good points, i learnt and am learning many things for free...you see :)

A way around the advertising problem is after uploading to Youtube upload & open them in Fandalism. Fandalism is free of the ads on vids. But I have noticed that video count in Fandalism does not get taken up in youtube. I don't think Google & Facebook are very friendly to each other? This is what Fandalism looks like:-

OK i gather this OP isn't really about a recent change to advertising on YT.
