When I was learning to play harp, the primary guys to listen to - as suggested by my teacher Dave Barrett - were Musselwhite, Estrin, Mischo, Wilson, and Piazza. I'm proud to say that they are now ALL BlowsMeAway wood mic users.

Rod chose burl maple, with a double stripe of black stone inlay and a personalized brass grill for his mic. Here's what he has to say:

"Hey Baby. Just used Greg's new personalized harp mic and I'm here to tell ya. Not only is it gorgeous in appearance, but the feel and tone of the mic are as dynamic and punchy as you would want. The volume is a perfect taper and smooth as they come. I can dig it."

I should have added that Rod also uses a BlowsMeAway wireless system for part of his show where he walks the crowd.....

@greg: when we saw him he did the same. any idea why he doesn't use wireless all the time? seemed odd to mess with being tethered for most of the show, only to switch for one song. does he believe there's a tone difference? do you?

From what I know, and since he sold his own for awhile, Rod Piazza demands a great tone from a mic. So, kudos to you, Greg!

@garry - I know he's happy with the new wireless system but Rod favors crystal element mics. They don't work well with most wireless systems - and he's been doing this for a lot longer than when I met him. He uses a CR mic for the wireless and leaves his crystal cabled. I built him an impedance matching adapter so his new wireless system DOES work well with the crystal mic, but he probably doesn't change because he's so used to doing it this way.

High functioning Art. The wood on this mic is absolutely beautiful as are the grill and the over all " flow " of the piece. This defines "labor of love " in it's highest degree. (be still my heart ) Very, very nice Greg.

Greg, that's fantastic news, and richly deserved. And it's a beautiful custom job - the wood finish even matches Rod's tan!
