I just ran across references to an Indianapolis event first on RJ Mischo's site and then on James Conway's website as copied below:

Wed, April 24th- Sat, April 27th, HARMONICA COLLECTIVE, w/Jason Ricci, Winlsow Yerxa, Michael Peloquin, Richard Sleigh (also James Conway/ds)

Clarion Waterfront

2930 Waterfront Parkway West Dr.

Indianapolis, IN 46214

Has anyone heard anything about this?

Good facilities for the event, reasonable room rates, and airport access are major criteria for venues. The Clarion Waterfront parkway scores well in all those areas, and looks pretty nice inside:

Also, Harmonica Collective attendees get a special $69 room rate, available only by phone at (317) 299-8400.

(I tried to get them to make this available on the internet, but no dice.)

The Harmonica Collective will present three solid days of seminars by six expert guides on several topics that fall in these areas:

- Harmonica playing technique

- Harmonica in various musical styles

- Harmonica repair and modification

- Using gear (i.e., electronic equipment)

- Working with other musicians

- Relating to audiences

During the day, three classes will run simultaneously, and attendees will experience each class over the course of the three main days. We'll also have jams and open hang time. At least one guitar slave will be in attendance.

Jason is also lining up one, and possible two, live gigs in a club with a backing band, where the expert guides and/or attendees will play.

We're also looking at having vendors in attendance.

Cost is not yet settled but will be somewhere in the $400 - $500 range.

!!lost my message!!!

Winslow, is there more detailed information available? I am very interested in this event even though it will stretch my budget to do this and SPAH.

Do workshops start on Wednesday, and if so, at what time? How do you get more information and how do you sign up if you don't have a Facebook account? Is the hotel ready for discounted reservations?

Doug -

We're still developing the schedule, but here's what I can tell you:

Wednesday will be arrival day, and Jason is looking for a venue to do an evening show featuring the Expert Guides.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be full-on seminar days, with classes starting at 9AM, with breaks for lunch and dinner, and either classes or jams running til 9PM on the official clock (perhaps much later on the unofficial clock).

We're planning a Saturday night show involving the enrollees.

Signups will be by PayPal, not Facebook, though there is a PayPal link on the Harmonica Collective Facebook page. I'll be putting up a website in the next couple of days, which will have the PayPal link and will also post more information on classes once it becomes available.

The Clarion Waterfront is ready to book discounted reservations at a rate of $69/night (I just called them to check). You can make a reservation by calling +1-317-299-8400
