Hi all...just acquired a Marvel 35 amp. 6 inch speaker (blown apart) and 6V6, 5Y3GT and 6SL7 tube layout. Does anybody have any info on these? And, can the 6SL7 be swapped to achieve more (or less) gain? Does it function like a 12--7 pre amp tube would?

Any info woukd be helpful...

Thanks...

I would think you could swap the 6SL7 for a 6SN7, since the 6SN7 is a lower gain version of that tube, much like the 12AU7 is a lower gain version of the 12AX7. Same octal base on it. Course, I don't have a lot of experience with octal preamp tubed amps, so if I'm wrong, someone feel free to correct and edumacate me.

Sidenote, the tube configuration of this amp sounds like it's fairly Champ-ish to me.
