Not really OT, since you'd better be able to roll with the changes if you play with a guitar man like this. They just don't make 'em like this anymore:
There's something very liberating about someone playing who is clearly not locked into what one might expect for a regular rhythmical pattern. I personally love it that he makes up his own irregular rhythm as he goes. Or, uses the rhythm as it suits him, rather than being a slave to it. But there are some, even on this forum, who will call it insane. Allan Ginsberg: "Follow your inner moon light.Don't hide the madness!"
So effortless and so good. I've never seen that style of strumming high on the neck and with the percussive slaps on the neck. He's got a great voice too.
Pure entertainer, he is. I feel like he has an extra special ability to connect with everybody. He gets his music real close to you. When I listen to his music I feel like I'm sittin' at a table 2 feet from the stage.
Nice! This is the kind of thing that I really love seeing and listening to. I'm personally not a fan of "big" blues bands. I like it as solo or duo act, and Lightnin Hopkins was one of the best of that kind of Blues act... ----------
Lightnin' is my favorite. The famous billy Gibbons quote is when he mentioned to Lightnin' that his chord changes were erratic for the back up band that day, Mr. Hopkins said" Old Lightnin'change when he want to change"

over 40 years ago I spent quite some time around Memphis, while Furry Lewis and other old-timers was still playing out around town. If you wanted to sit in with Furry, you had to have great big ears and be ready to follow his sometimes erratic progressions.
'Course, it was no problem back then, cuz I was a truly fine harp player (or so I thought!) Ah, the confidence of youth ;>)
