Here's a recent jam from Christmas, I get pretty "happy". It's a classic example of sitting in and figuring something out on the fly. :) I'm second in the pic, stage left.
One suggestion, the same I had when we discussed the BYBO3 thread, is that instead of posting embedded videos we can just post a hyperlink to the video instead. You just have to put in a small amount of html to make it a hyperlink (see Forum-how-to). Or just post the address and people can copy/paste. That way a thread like this doesn't freeze up the whole forum...
Edit: That's really nice playing and great sounding all around Littoral. I would have liked to be there live! ---------- Pistolkatt - Pistolkatts youtube

Littoral, I really enjoyed that. We haul to Johnson City, Tennessee quite a bit and I enjoyed that line, but I would have enjoyed that tune anyway. I liked the melodic references in the harp. I was tapping my foot and enjoying that.
here's one I'll post:

I've posted this before, but here's a clip from a jam night. Harmonica starts at about 1.45 The harp-playing's nothing special, though I think that the small amp (Marble Max) I was using sounds quite nice in a small venue when the band is playing a reasonable volume.
@Dave "Just gettin right on good red liquor...". That was fun, and well done. Authentic. And thanks for the compliments. No small thing from you.
@GamblersHand, the harp really works in that blues reggae. The wrenched tortured attitude of the vocals was right as well.

This was the first take of an impromptu blues harmonica "call and response" with me and my son. It was recorded on a cellphone...the (old) pictures are just to help keep the players separate. He's only 8 years old, but hits it perfectly twice in a row before the 2-minute mark.
Well, sometimes less is more ... especially when playing the spiritual "Jesus to walk with me" A little more than less harmonica parts at 2 min and some at the intro ...
Hi folks, It thought this video was long lost and gone. But what a surprise to find it on an old VHS Tape which was not signed. For it is like a Time-Warp when I started blow the harmonica in a live situation with a really great friend and musician. His skills and singing fits perfect to my playing. Enjoy.
This recording was made 2001!
BTW: The amp I´m playing through is a Danelectro NiftyFifty - still my favorite gig amp.
Mario Hemken: blues harmonica Meister Michel: voice,guitar
Looks crazy fun! I Would like to have heard you a bit better, but your playing was very tasteful, considering you had so many musicians up on that stage with you. Call and response starting at 3:36 was a great dynamic. Well done!
@S-harp
Agreed. Just the right amount of harp in this composition. Haunting melody and great tone/reverb for the song... Thank you for sharing!
@MarioMS
Had to listen to this one twice! Really enjoyed the build up on this classic, Mario. Nice job!
@CarlA
Dirty, hard, rockin blues. @2:44... Man, I was wondering if you were gonna get to play that harp. lol. Some solid dirty bluesy technique you used in there. Very nice! Keep doing your thang, Carl!
@Rubes
LoL. Great song, but your harp definitely completes it. Good work, Rubes!
5 hours into our band practice, we struck this up and I was merely told to hand the bass to the lead guitarist and "lay down some dirty harp". lol. Our shear exhaustion shows a bit in our playing, but it turned out to be a really fun harp jam.
The whole thing is virtually a harmonica solo, but feel free to forward it to 2:00 or 3:00 for the main harp solos.
Here's me in the acoustic side-man role. I guess you can call it a jam. I'd never heard the song before, although I have played with these guys a few times. . . ---------- 12gagedan's YouTube Channel
Tastefully done sir! Love the hand effects, the pulloff whaws especially. It's tricky with non-blues acoustic vocal heavy tunes like this to find a role for harp that gives a presence but is not intrusive. Even more so on the first go with it! Well done. ---------- MBH Webbrain - a GUI guide to Adam's Youtube vids FerretCat Webbrain - Jason Ricci's vids (by hair colour!)
Agreed @Bluemoose. For never hearing the song before, you accompanied it very well and very tastefully. I really enjoy those guys and you make their tune that much better! Well done, 12gagedan!
My lead singer, McCarthy, plays one of his medleys in key of G, consisting of songs I've never heard him play before, while we're trying to pass the time till the drummer gets back. I'm just consistently playing my Special 20 in C.
Piece cut out where I had to walk away and some timing issues, since I'd not played to any of these songs before and the song transitions from song to song. That's what makes it enjoyable though. Keeps me on my toes.
Scratch My Back by The Communal Well, in a bar outside of Paris. This is a song we wrote last summer and is on our new album: Under A Western Sky. It was captured on a cheap camera, so sound/image is not great. I would love to hear your feedback on the song...
@A440 Nice job! Everyone was great, but you really made that song happen. They knew it too and gave you some excellent solos, which you nailed. Well done. :)
