   | View Harmonica Players in a larger map

You can zoom in with the plus and minus buttons, or move it around by holding down the left mouse key and "pulling" it.

I've made it a public map that anyone can edit, so here is the idea. If you have a Google account log on and put a pin in it with your MBH forum handle and any other info you want to share. Are their other harpers near you? Now there is an app for that!

   | Ok, after looking at it more... once your logged into your account you should see a little icon in the left corner of the map that looks like a pushpin. Click on that and drag it where you want it. Once you have it where you want it you can click the new pushpin and edit it. |

Thanks nacoran, for setting that up. I'll add it to the "how-to" site right away!

   | Cool! Two down. Was Braunshweig in the East or West?
You probably have a better idea how you did that than I did, since I had a different screen since I was starting the map. Maybe you could give everyone the step by step?

   | Nice one Nate. I got there in the end. Great idea, I'm the first MBH member in the UK.
For other users I had to click the EDIT box just near the top left corner of the map for the pushpin symbol to appear. I'm already a google member so didn't need to register.

   | This is looking good; Maps like this help whether you're having a discussion with someone on the other side of the world or in the same country. (when the map starts to fill up)
Will it be possible to mark the map as a sticky, though, as it may soon disappear?

   | I don't think there is a way to make the map sticky, but we can bump it, or you can post it in other related threads, or it could get a section in the archive, or it could get a page (maybe the same page that you sign in on.) That's up to Adam though.
And if Adam is interested and has a Google account, I think there is probably a way to transfer control of the map to his account, although I have no problem being the primary on it if no one else minds.

   | It's on the forum how-to so that newbies can put their pin on the map.
Otherwise we should just bump the thread from time to time just like the "MBH-forum members sign in..." thread. Or just start a thread from time to time to remind newbies how to say hello...

   | Adam started the original 'Where are you from?' thread. He could edit his first post to add the map there. This thread is just a thread. All it does is help people find the map. We can do that in any related thread. |

   | Hey, harpman made his pin look like a person... cool. I wonder if we could make them look like harmonicas. Why do I always think of these things just as I have to get set to go somewhere? Huh, looks like you can add custom icons. They don't have a stock harp image.

   | you can customize any icon you want. Go back to the Google map where you added you location and select edit, then go to your name and then double click on the tear drop icon, there it lets you change the icon.
I agree with tookatooka. If you add you own ICON, it doesn't scale well is gets too large.

I tried taking the MBH Harmonica, flip it and reduced the size to 64 pixels and it still didn't scale properly and was too large.

   | Trouble is it has to be 64 x 64 pixels max and when you zoom out it stays quite large in comparison to other markers and will blot them out. Not a good idea. ----------

   | I've now added my house--no stalkers, please!--and, more temptingly, "the crossroads." Zoom in on Oxford, Mississippi and you'll find that there are two stickpins about five miles apart.
Some day--perhaps next summer--I plan to have an MBH rendez-vous at the Crossroads.

   | @ Gwythion: Yes! Look just below the map on the left. See "Harmonica Players" in blue? click it. It will take you to Google maps where you may see Australia, Asia, Antarctica, My house and everywhere else in the world. Follow the instructions in this thread to place your thumbtack. |

   | @scstrickland; yes, I know, thanks (I posted my pin the other day). My point is that when a visitor sees the map as it's displayed here, they might not bother to put a pin in if they live in Australia as it's not shown by default. |
