of course, it doesn't say which type or brand of harp he was beating the guy with. Maybe we need a new thread:which harp is best for bludgeoning a roomate?

Wonder what his defence will be?
"Well your honour, I was doing a double tongued shimmy on the lower octave and the 2 draw got stuck and I needed to find something hard to tap the harp on".
or
"Well your honour, I had this brand new Marine Band delivered this morning, and I saw red when it didn't work right out of the box".

That was to funny. The only motivation I can think of was that the beating victim had used the harmonica, a la "Monica" (think Bill Clinton), Decai Liu (the perp) started playing it, it became immediately obvious to him that his roommate had used it in an orifice other than which it was intended.
The article states, "Liu, 52, was charged Thursday with assault with a dangerous weapon..." Probably was a Hohner. If it had been a Seydel 1847 he would have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon and homicide and we would see the X-rays with the harp stuck through the victims skull, penetrating a good distance into the cranial cavity.
The article went on to state, "Police tried to arrest Liu, but he allegedly resisted and head-butted one of the officers." If he had been a real harmonica player he wouldn't have risked facial injury by using his head.
But the writer and his editor does have a humorous, if not an unprofessional attitude towards the news. The article starts, "A Broken Arrow man is facing the music after being accused of beating his roommate..."
He should have added:
"The key to the charges is..."
"The neighbors said that they heard sounds, but that they were on the beat so didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary."
"Liu didn't own an amplifier, and a number of his neighbors reported that, 'He was always so quiet.' "
"The doctors found ten holes in the victim's head as well as in the harmonica."

the worst part about that is that when he is locked up i bet he wont get a harp to play in his cell cause he will use it as a weapon.

Metal is the best comb material for beating someone on the head.
Some beaters claim that a higher key harmonica is more effective because there is less material cut from the reed plates (making it heavier), but other beaters say they cannot tell any difference between the keys.
For head-beating, do not round corners.
To keep the harmonica intact while head-beating, replace nails with screws.
Clean the harmonica with alcohol when through beating someone with it, then play each note to insure reeds are still properly aligned.
When first starting out, limit head-beating to 10 minutes a day until you build calluses on your hand.

I've printed that story and will be giving it to guitar players at jams. Make 'em think twice about trying to get cute with the changes.
Ii was going to wonder how Little Walter would have beat the dude....then I realized he would have used a gun.

My weapon of choice when going somewhere that doesn't allow concealed carry is my Dannecker Blues. It weighs about the same as a green bullet but much easier to stick in a pocket!

Wow!, I've discovered something: For great effect, duct tape a microphone into the beaten head's mouth!
The resonant thuds, the screams...And possibly the best part: when the saliva shorts the circuit!! (I tried to record one in stereo, but I couldn't get any volume through the rear mic.) :(
Be sure to expirement with various pedals.
I'm working on a piece that utilizes two harmonicas.

Hey!, I know a Todd Greene. Went to Berklee SOM. Same?
AFA harp as weapon, I'll go with an all metal 64 chromatic, if a double bass is not handy.

Hey LittleJoe, nah, I'm a N'awlins boy, born in Mississippi. I did, however, live in the Bay Area for three years when I was a boy. There was also an Angels baseball player by my name. That's why I usually incorporate my middle name or at least initial(L) into things... edit...oh, berklee, NOT Berkley, Ca...my bad! Well, neither way, 'twas not me.
@ gene-you're on to something...I've been wanting a stompbox, but hadn't yet considered using someone's head as one...Instead of potentially ruining a harp to strike him in the head, the rhythmic tapping of my size 11 boot would create an interesting rhythym...just lay the poor sod in front of a mic, and use his skull as a bass pedal...

Man beaten flat by sharp harmonica story strikes a chord with locals. Victim says being beaten with harp sucks. Humiliation blows. Key to writing a good headline is taking good notes as a good bass line, and being careful not to get in treble.
I love pun threads on Fark.
