Am I the only one currently using a Malekko Ekko 616 (Analog Delay Pedal). As anyone heard of this or use this? The guys in Guitar Center said it was amazing and I had to have it over the MXR Carbon Copy I was going to buy since they only had one and it was recently shipped to them. I only went for MXR CC because I didn't feel like waiting online for a Two-Timer (bad excuse, I know) and I didn't feel like searching for a LoneWolf either. I wanted the easy way out and I was afraid that the Boss DD-3 or DD-7 digital delays wouldn't work the same way for me as they had others. Buddha once commented to go analog. Has anyone tried a Malekko Ekko 616? Any thoughts about this in comparison to the MXR Carbon Copy?

I am not familiar with the Malekko Ekko 616, but I do Have a MXR Carbon Copy and absolute love it. Its is warm and organic. I tried the LoneWolf, but for me, with my setup the CC was a nicer sound.

Unfortunately, I've never come near a LoneWolf, but I can argue that this pedal is a contender.
I will admit right away that this pedal does affect your tone. My friend who doesn't play any instruments could hear the slight variation. To me, it doesn't appear to change your tone dramatically, it seems to make it stronger without having to raise the master volume or the volume of the gain, bass, or treble. Whatever you're putting into this pedal to the amp is given a generally stronger signal to the amp. It's very interesting, the brights are nice and smooth and the dark become less dark, but the low note rings through better than before. A similar effect went to my guitar, but not as dramatic.
In the store (Guitar Center), we compared this pedal to the CC with a SM57 in my hand. The amp choice in my opinion was weak, it was very clear that maybe only a bullet could have made something happen. However, it was perfect for this testing since it was such a clear amp. The CC IS ORGANIC! It definitely does convey the sounds clean and clear and loud for that matter. I enjoy it and wouldn't be heartbroken if I had to use it. However, the Ekko 616 has a "on" channel, a "true bypass" channel (where of course nothing happens), and a "buffer" where a little bit goes through. The Ekko was a lot stronger on the effects and had a slightly bigger variety. It rang through the amp louder and stronger (not just the effects, but the harmonica and all sounds entirely). It didn't make it brighter, but it felt like it was utilizing more resources from the amp. Simply because of that, for harp players, I think they'd get more out of their amps if they used an Ekko 616. It's not only harp friendly, but it is essentially a harp-helper in getting you that boost BEFORE you need to hit that sweet spot on your amp. I can play my 5Watt Vibro Champ XD (new modulated edition) at low volumes and feel comfortable about the tones I am getting without yet cranking it. I plan to crank it though.
Sorry for the long reply. I hate saying things as simple as "it's good." I don't find that all that helpful. (videos to come!) ---------- Hunger is the best spice.
