interesting! i was just watching Hohners reed replacement video and the tools look just like my Seydel tools. even the de-riveter (with a few changes) looks a lot like the original Seydel de-riveter. i'd be interested to hear what Dave Payne has to say. i see Wiha brand tools. cheers, Mark

Well... Michael Timler created this toolkit. He brought it with him to Seydel when he was working there. When he left Seydel, Seydel kept the toolkit. Maybe he had it on harponline, before he started working for Seydel. I don't know. I asked him this once, and he did not answer and very emphatically I might say did not answer the question. So, I don't know.
When Timler started working for Hohner, he apparently brought the toolkit to Hohner. Thus, the similarities.

Thanks Dave! i know if i ever need a new de-riveter that i'll get it from Hohner. unless someone got tired of their old Seydel tools and decided they just like to play the harp, rather than sittin around pullin reeds.
PS. here's a tip. you know how the pine vise doesn't quite grasp the de-burr/reemer thingys firmly and they slip when you try to reem a hole larger?
whatcha do is cut a .005 sleeve out of shim stock. make a tiny cylinder and insert it into the business end of the pin vise. now my vise has great purchase on the smallest things.
