Hi harpers, I'm not a catholic but i'm feelin a bit guilty because i have really let my effort on the harp slide these past few months. I was thinking about how much i practice and i recon it's about 60-90mins a week!, Ain't that a disgrace!, So come on guys motivate me, give me a kick up the arse tell me what a lazy unworthy swine i really am i need the pain!

YOU LAZY, SLACKING, NO GOOD WHUSSY BOY! ELANIS MORISSETTE CAN BLOW HARP BETTER THAN YOU. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE UP POWER NAPPING AS A NEW HOBBY! YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO ALL HARMONICA PLAYERS EVERYWHERE! NOW GET OFF YOUR WHINING BUTT GET OUT IN THE WOODSHED AND EITHER BEAT YOURSELF OVER THE HEAD WITH A TERMITE INFESTED LOG WITH A RUSTY NAIL IN IT OR START PRACTICING.

You've got a day or so left to bone-up on Summertime and enter the contest. You've left it late but a little pressure will help you.

Sounds to me like you just need inspiration.

If you still live in Newcastle get yourself down to the Tyne Bar, they have loads of great harp players on there. Also keep an eye out for "No Time For Jive". Brian Lynam their harp player is simply wonderful (and he teaches as well), also the Lyndon Anderson Band are another good one.

Now say 15 Hail Marys and spin round anticlockwise 500 times after drinking a full bottle of vodka. Then get practicing! :-)

You can follow how much progress I make practicing a minimum of 5 hours a day and be jealous :p The green eyed monster is a great motivator for some...

Hi Geordie--good to read you again!

Just go write a tune about how bad you suck and I'll do the guitar and vocals--then you can put some really nasty harp to it. . .

harmonica shouldn't be something you feel bad about because you're too lazy to practice... I feel bad when I don't get a chance to practice because I'm addicted and I don't want to loose any skill that I've worked so hard to get

Thank you sir, may i have another! Oh boy my metaphorical bum is stinging from that verbal thrashing you boys just gave me but i really rather enjoyed it in a totally unkinky kinda way. I was especially impressed by Kingley's knowlege of the geordie blues scene and i would like to confirm that i am well familier with all the bands and artists he mentioned ( in fact i had a lesson off Brian Lynam earlier this year, he told me to stop being a lazy bastard and to quit looking for a shortcut coz the only route to success is the long one that starts from the woodshed. Special thanks also go out to SC STRICLAND A MAN WHO REALLY KNOWS HOW TO KICK ASS IN UPPER CASE!,I'm off to the wood shed now, well just as soon as i've watched this facinating documentary on the norwegian kipper industry, taken a bath and sorted my vast porno collection into alphabetical order CHEERS GEORDIEBLUESMAN

Lol! that sounds like Brian!
Here's a couple of clips of "No Time For Jive" in action.

For anybody who's wondering. The mic is a Shure 520D. Brian had it covered to make it easier to hold. We now always it say looks like he's strangling the kitten!

Thanks for those clips Kingley; I've never heard of Brian, great tone and feeling, marvellous!

There is huge talent on the harp in the uk at the moment, and most of it unrecognised.

So get working Geordie!

Oisin, Yeah it's good stuff those lads knock out!

Geordie, No. I live in Leyland in Lancashire, but Brian, Pete, Beefy and Nat are all good mates of mine.

I also know Lyndon as well and Little Stevie, Doc Brown, Johnny Whitehill, Billy Sharp, Neil Dalton, Pete Turner, Lee Bates & Billy Newton, etc. There's some great blues talent up your way.

I'm not sure where "Got no Hair" was filmed. It could be the Maggy Bank. Next time I speak to Brian I'll try and remember to ask him.

Next time you see Brian tell him Paul from Leyland said hello to him and Doreen (his wife).

Hey Andrew just took a look at your postings, That's a hell of a challenge you have set yourself but you are at a great age to do this (family stuff gets in the way for me) i'm sure there will be lots of us older married guys watching your progress with jelous eyes, Good luck!

Yeah those Geordie lads are a great bunch of lads.
Sharpie owes you £20. That sounds about right for Billy!
