If given one wish by a "magical musical genie" and had to choose between instantly receiving either....
A.) Mind blowing chops, including excellent timing, rhythmic and melodic playing abilities for the rest of your life... Or
B.) All the best Gear your heart desires to try out and use any time you wanted for the rest of your life...
Which would you choose?

I would choose A.) Mind blowing chops over Equipment any day, especially as I've not been feeling very creative lately:o) ----------

I know I'm cheating, because I'm not choosing between the two. More important than either of the choices is a third-- imagination and creativity. I wish I had more.
Listen to Little Walter, a creative genius. He didn't repeat himself, song to song. He didn't even repeat himself verse to verse! I know of one exception, where he repeated a phrase two verses in a row, but that's it.
So-- I want creativity, which is probably my weak point as a player. If you have that, the rest will come.
Cheers,
wolf kristiansen
p.s. Shoulda said, I'm talking about his instrumentals

Neither,
Waking up one morning with mind blowing chops would like getting to you final destination with out seen any of the sites along the away. I would appreciate mind blowing chops if I hadn't earned them.
I don't need any more gear, I am happy with a an amp, a couple of mics and a bag of OOTB marine bands.
I would wish for an unlimited amount of time and the motivation to practice.

A little bit of A- I'd like to be able to instantly remember lyrics and the general structure of a song (verse-chorus-verse vs. verse-verse-chorus) and the ability to know the key (there is an app for that!). I like having to learn the parts though, and working on my chops makes them feel like mine. A little bit of B- I'd like one of Greg's mikes and a nice amp and a loop pedal. I'd also like some C- I'd to go back in time and put a harp in my hand when I was a kid so I could have been playing all those years or better yet, just be young again. If I was 17 again! (Come on genetic engineering!)
edit- After further thought, I suspect gear may be the solution, if money isn't the object. My two biggest issues are forgetting lyrics (which could be fixed with a web enabled teleprompter!) and when I'm playing alone I sometimes meander a bit with the rhythm (which could be fixed by an earpiece with an adjustable click track). As for being 17 again, well, if I had unlimited money, that would take care of the main reason I want to be 17 again... you need money or good looks to get the ladies!
So, gear.
