Hey folks,
I am at the tail end of a wicked sinus infection and havent really been able to play for a couple of weeks which was killing me.
I order a couple books last week to keep me busy and try to understand musical theory as it relates to the harp and also picked up a Sonny Terry lick book. The lick book came with a CD and after listening to it during my commute today I could wait no longer and had to try some out.
I started with the slower licks and could bend with ease and my tone sounded great! I actually sounded like a Sonny Terry wannabe, well not so much but much more than ever before:)
I attribute this to my nose being stuffed up. Anyone else have this phenominom? Maybe it's jsut the two week rest? I dunno, heck maybe I am even making progress!
In any case it felt great to pick up the harp again.

First, you've sealed off the nose from leaks. Stopping the nose will also change the tone. Notice how it changes your voice when you talk? Same with the harmonica.
here's a test from the Elk River Institute of Advanced Harmonicas studies on tone changes from pinching your nose (this is important junk we're doing and stuff).

In the future I predict all blues harpists will wear synchronized swimming nose-clips!

What ramifications does this have for the two instrument performer, for instance, someone playing harmonica and nose harp?

I've thought about this before with Sam Myers. His singing voice sounds like someone on a Vicks commercial, like he's totally stopped up and he got great tone from the harp.
