I'll be spending Christmas vacation in Dallas with my wife and her family, and I'll have my OMB equipment along with me. I could easily add a small PA and a very long extension cord. Or a couple of battery-powered amps.

Is there any part of Dallas where street musicians with amplifiers currently play? I've carefully chosen every word in that sentence. I'm not looking to break new ground. I'm not looking to start something new, or piss off the cops. I'm just asking. I visited Deep Ellum a few times about 8-9 years ago, when my wife still lived in Dallas; great entertainment area, but I don't recall seeing any amped up buskers.

PS: If you're a Dallas musician and you think you might have a gig for me, I'm entertaining any and all offers.

I had a juggler tell me there is an ordinance against busking in Dallas. Come to think of it, I think they've outlawed homlessness too.

Adam,
Born and raised in Irving...Deep Ellum is going thru a rebuild...most all the music clubs have closed but it's making a come back...For the best busking opportunity, I would try Downtown Ft. Worth.... Also check out Cadillac Pizza Pub...Lots of Blues going on there and there is a Jam on the 25th hosted by Buzz Andrews...Saturday October 20 at Poor Davids Pub Zac Harmon will be playing at 7 PM....Zac is always open to letting people sit in!

Although it doesn't mention amps, I found a recent article that addresses busking in Dallas. Also, it looks like on November 3rd there will be a big busking event from 5 to 9 p.m.

If there is someone downtown at that time, they could swing by to see if any guitarists or other musicians are using amps.

Here is a link to the article:

Any chance you'll still be gigging or busking in Dallas during the holidays?

Adam, if you are in the area...,

I regularly haunt this place on Thursday nights and occasionally some amazing talent drops by.

Or...,

This place is a little further away from me, but the last Monday that I went to their jam was a real hair clipping experience from some of the best Jazz musicians in Dallas. I can't say about their Tuesday or Thursday jams, but I imagine they will be of the same caliber.

Busking will be a bit nippy after today's weather moves on.

If you are playing out anywhere, I would like to catch it.

I'm over in Ft. Worth for Xmas.

It seems as if you leave a guitar case open, you get busted under panhandling laws. Amplified anything is out here too... I think they are more lax in Dallas.

Hope you find a spot Adam, if you feel like slumming with me, I'd be happy to play some guitar behind you if you like. We're probably out of here on the 27th.

I'd play on the street any chance I can get...
