This is an older video I had my sister film for me. It's a bit shakey. And the place is not well lit..and it's a Flip camera. There's two songs actually. We totally flubbed the intro to Blues With A Feeling. I was laughing at how we eventually worked ourselves out of the rut...it's blues, MAN! keep playin! And I still haven't figured out how to trim a video of the lag between songs..thanks, in advance for your suggestions. I'm playing through a Pignose 30/60, an Ibanez CD10 delay, and an Astatic 200 mod(mojokane mod), with a black CR. It might be also be a CM. Not sure. This place rocks sometimes...Larry Dupio(g), offered up a tasty solo, when I finally shared the stage. I know it looked like I'm a "stage hog", but I was so excited to be playing with these cats....they seemed happy to help. And they just finished doing a set.I don't think I over did it too much. I will add, we had some "time" issues, and my harp was chokin on me. Signs of too much pressure...I need to back off a little more.

thanks! It tough to be a band leader sometimes. Especially when it's not your band. Giving proper and timely signals, for others to jump in, is harder than one may think. There are worse things, than coming in late...on a solo. But not many.
thanks Rick, I was reviewing the rig over the many times, and I think it is actually a (2)EL84,(1)12ax7,(1)5y3 Admiral console amp. 2X10 alnico jensen sp10's ribbed cones. It handles nicely with the CM. Below is the same song but with a different rig. The clip below is my band. This one is a single Rola 12" with a Kalamazoo One stock homemade head cab. The flashy red one I posted awhile back. It rips nicely enough to keep around for awhile. I slipped a thick piece of acoustic foam in the back of the cab to see if it helps with bottom end and projecting better. It did help. I'm thinking of experimenting with closing the back completely.

Happy Columbus Day. Even if he really didn't discover America. Greg, thanks! pharpo, thanks, it's nice to see myself. After all the filming I do for others....I found someone capable and willing...for free. Well I bought em both dinner. The Mexican food is great at this venue.
rbeetsme,..turning up, is good. That's what I like to hear on stage while playing, too.
I hurried back from traffic court....Ha! It was actually a good experience this time. It's Columbus Day, too. Not much traffic on the road today. It was a breeze. It's the getting up early, on my day off, part...that ain't so good. I came straight back to my man cave, I logged on to MBH, and couldn't wait to read your comments. I respect what this forum has to offer in the form of support, and comradery. And comic relief, and ofcourse a littel drama, too. I confess, I like to hear a good rant, now and then... thanks guys! ----------

yo! rdfinley, RHarley,...thanks MAN! I'm always eager to play to fellow harp players....I like to think I listen to any feedback I may need. I'm constantly practicing to improve, and learn songs, that I may one day hope to wake up, to find MY voice.. It takes a lot of repetition, perseverance, copying others. etc...and good gear. LOL! Thanks so much, for the feedback... Here's the back of the rig, that I used on the first clip. here's the rig on the second. Very close in tone and volume. I use a 609e Sennheiser...helps alot. And put acoustic foam inside the cab, closing the partially closed back. It seems to help a little. One verses two EL84 tubes. The first was a bit louder and crunchier...? Thanks again, ----------

rharley, that's a cool pix of the "CROSSROADS"!!!. How come there's no harmonica on that pole, too? Funny, I just got in from playing a gig with some friends. I decided to travel light tonight. I took the Kalamazoo Model One out for a spin. I just had it serviced, and needed to see if it would hold up. Sometimes replacing caps, and things, can do more harm than good, with the tone. I mic'd it with my Senn'609e, and an Ibanez CD10 delay, and it performed pretty friggen aurite!! Like, there ain't much more needed, with that little beast. The factory alnico 10 is just fine. I sat it up on a chair, to help keep the bottom end strong. When it's on the ground, the stage and other instruments can sap the bottom end. Not the case, when it's off the floor, and mic'd. I can only imagine how it might sound after one of Gregs mods....geez! later! ----------
...hey! ..why don't YOU do it, late one evening....when nobody is around....suddenly people will notice, "there's a Harmonica up there now!". I suppose you'd need to find the "prop" first... ----------
i left that amp w/ your brother in march of '98 before i flew to the east coast. i told him you might like it for harp. nice to see it is still in action after all these years.
PS. do you still have the Eminence 12 that was in it originally? ---------- MP affordable reed replacement and repairs.

Hey Mojokane, that was really, really fun to listen to! I got to listen to that some more. Hit me right in the GUT. You just made my morning. Thank you. Hope you will post some more. WOW!!!
thanks very much, Orphan...you made MY day! I'm workin on some more, soon. It's tough to get all the ducks lined up. but I agree, I got it goood, on these clips. Not always so lucky, and not always from the "gut". I was feelin it. As you notice at the break, I acknowledged several bluesmen in the audience. My game was ON. It's a pleasure playing for a rowdy crowd. Especially when they're all your friends, too. thanks again.
Mojo, I echo the above comments. Your tone was superb and very tasty playing. I've been following the "how to hear yourself on stage" thread, and would appreciate your comments on what works for you, since you obviously are making it work and having fun up there. ----------
Mojo, great tone and crisp execution. My one comment if u want us to let u have it is, slow down the moment to bigger than life. I feel you are too hard on yourself so loosen up and let your kid through. Amen.
Happy Sunday, Joe Bonamasa was killer...btw. Thanks, mr_so&so, couldn't find your thread... Here goes.. what works for me...hmm. I laid it out last week when I first got your comments. But decided I had better trim my response down to one paragraph. Instead of three pages of needless dribble...thanks for asking, hope this helps. O.k, 4 paragraphs...
I recommend mic'n harp amps.
The PA allows us to hear ourselves waaaaaay better. I can easily keep up with the rest of the band, too. Get there early, set up your own mic, and cable, with the soundman,(buy him a drink). Then, during sound check, find the best place onstage, where you can hear yourself...(through monitors).
Politely, make it apparent you need to hear yourself. This is alot of the reason we rarely have the fun we expect, and practice for.
Be mindful, efficient, check your gear the night before. I do this, but... once, and only once!! I bounced it in the car, while loading it. A 12AX7 tube dropped out, and cracked. No back up and I played through the PA the whole night. What a drag. But a good lesson.
If you are not sure of your playing skills, wait until you have atleast one song you know front to back. After you do this, your credibility will sway better. And pick a standard the band can easily do.
also...If you do your homework. They will ask you to stay up, and play MORE! CAUTION...get down before they see that is all you know...lol! ----------
