this might be a stupid question, but whats the difference between a 1x10 and 1x12 cab for the head? any preference/ feature i need to look for?

I have an Epiphone Valve Jr cab I bought used in Guitar Center for $90. It is 16 ohms, with the original Eminence 12-inch Lady Luck speaker. I use it with my 1953 Masco ME-18 amp, and it sounds very good. The Epi cab is inexpensive and easy to find. I recommend it for those reasons.

As far as the difference between 10- and 12-inch speakers, many players prefer the articulation of the 10-inch speaker... It sounds more like a human voice, I think. A 12-inch speaker is generally (but not always) more efficient and louder, and usually has a deeper tone. Neither is more inherently prone to feedback than the other.

It is a matter of taste. It would be cool if you could try several different cabs before deciding.

Edited to add: My favorite 10-inch speaker for harp is the Eminence Lil Buddy. Killer harp tone.

@Rick: Unfortunately, the VJ cab has been discontinued. One could probably find them on the used market, if one lived in an area that has a decent number of musicians on craigslist and the like. I've been looking for one for a couple of years now, but haven't been able to source one locally for a price I think is fair (not more than the $90 you paid for it new). I have a hotrodded VJ head, and don't play it as much as I should because I have no cab for it... I'm looking at the current in-production 1x12 cabinents, and I am reading decent things about the Kustom Defender cab, which is priced at about $100. It seems to be in short supply, though, and I'm thinking it may be discontinued soon. You've also got the Peavy Vypr 1x12 at around $130, and a couple of Vox cabs in the $150-175 range. Most of the other 1x12 cabs are priced at the $200 and above range... With this price array, I'm still waiting to find something on the used market... It'll happen eventually! :)

a friend of mine has this one::
BLACKSTAR HT-112 extension cabinet

" contains 1x12" custom designed Blackbird 50 speaker. It has been produced to the highest standards and using the finest materials. Every care has been taken to ensure it produces the best possible sounds. "

this friend wud be visiting me next month, and if I need it he wud carry it with him..(we are in different countries!) would it be worth or shud i look for other options like u suggested?
