I've just been watching a demo by Mr Ricci of various Lone Wolf pedals and I really like the sound of the Harp Break which costs $140.00 or there abouts in the States, but in good old Blighty It's £148.00 which is well over $200.00.
I know we have to import them but Bloody Hell I think someones taking the piss with the prices of stuff in this country.
And while I'm having a rant,£145.00 for a LITRE of Diesel!WTF!

I can get a L/W pedal sent to NZ from the states all up for 200$NZ about a 100 pounds.
Seems odd.
Have you tried buying direct from Randys site.
Put it in your cart with your address and it'll give you the total price including shipping. You don't have to carry out the transaction if you don't want too.

Yes importing direct from US is much cheaper but it makes me wonder why Randy bothers with international agents. Here in OZ it is $65AUD more expensive to buy from local agent than from US. That's not an insignificant markup. Harps are also generally far exxier here too. Add 55% on US price for marine band. USD and AUD have been at virtual parity for 2 years or more, the aussie$ is generally worth a few cents more than greenback. I dunno. I like to deal locally but sometimes it's hard to work out where the value is.

Customs and Excise are a bear. One gets charged customs duties and then VAT on that. You're literally paying tax on the tax. For what it's worth, I had it quite a few times when I was living in the UK that small packages sent via US Mail actually came through with no duties being charged even with a properly fill out customs form with the correct value attached . Don't if was the relatively small price or the package being processed by machine or what but it did happen.

yep, currently there is a threshhold value on australian imports, below which they dont bother to charge GST. there is talk about getting rid of the threshhold because there is so much stuff being brought in now it is apparently having a serious impact on revenue and local retail.

customs duty i'm not sure about, i think it varies according to the nature of the goods. but the GST is only 10%. i say 'only' because im comparing it to the 33% markup one pays to buy LW products locally (although it seems weird to say "local" when referring to WA) or the 55% markup on harps compared to US prices
