I am in Ross on Wye, are any of you guys any where near here? HarmonicaNick mentioned Bristol, but even thats a bit far to get together.
what is the term for one who plays blues harp? Blues Harpist? Blues harmonicaist?
I'm always a bit wary of telling non-bluesmen I play harp in case they think I'm in an orcestra with one of those big stringed instruments :^)

I've always hated being called a "Harpist".
Harmonicist sounds better or Harp Player or Harmonica player...
Harpist phonetically resembles words like "rapist" and "armpits" too much. Yech

Lumpy, i attach the blogfrom the host, Damien, of the blues jam I was telling you about: Blues Jam Bulletin, Cornubia 26 March 2009
People come from far and wide to be at our wonderful blues jam; we had a return visit from a guitarist from Holland! Yes thank you to Max, welcome return on guitar, thank you also to Steve on guitar and vocals. Thank you to John, Yuki, Phil, Nick, Henry and Moses T. on harmonica. Thank you to Paul on saxophone. Obviously not everyone had to travel from overseas to be at the jam but everyone’s presence and playing is most welcome and appreciated. See you all next week, Damien.
P.S the Mayor of Glastonbury has been coming to the Blues Jam at the Rifleman’s Arms to play the saxophone for the last two weeks. (He is a fine tenor player.)

@lumpy wafflesquirt
/are any of you guys any where near here?/
London (not exactly near, I know, but not that far...)
/what is the term for one who plays blues harp?/
I tend to call myself a harmonica player, but I also like the term "mouth harp" for some reason (?!).
@all the UK harmonica players
If ever you're in London, the London Harmonica Group meets every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at The Torriano, Kentish Town, NW5 2SG.
EDIT: for London, there's also the London Blues Jams yahoo group, which is pretty useful for finding what's what and where's where.
ANOTHER EDIT: There are acoustic blues sessions at The Green Note, Camden every 2nd Weds of the month, twice a month on Sundays (which Sundays varies) at Charlotte Street Blues, Charlotte Street (both of which usually have a captainbliss inflicted on them).
I understand there's also a great harmonica scene down in Brighton with Wanderin' Wilf very much at its centre. He runs a great website, too - http://www.harpsurgery.com/ - to which MBH's very own Elwood contributes his wit and wisdom now and then...
