I was way late getting this up because I had some problems with being snowed in my house with no power--then being snowed out of my house with power but no internet--then of course I blew out a knee a couple of weeks ago--and on and on.
Anyway, here is a Christmas song my wife and I came up with a while back--it is my first try at playing harp and guitar at the same time--really sucks to not be able to blame the guitar man or the vocalist when things go wrong--but it is a lot of fun to do. . .

Oldwailer that was great man. You would never know that was your first try. You and Geordie are inspiring me to try and start singing. I loved thosed lyrics....festive blues.

Man, I love that! I simply cannot play guitar and sing (hell, I can hardly even breathe) at the same time.
Well done! -Bob

Thanks for the kudos, everybody--
Oisin, I mis-stated it a little--this was my first try at doing a YT video with a racked harp--but it is something I have been working on for a while--back in the 70's I even did my share of Bob Dylan imitations--anyway, I'm still working on it, getting a decent tone on a rack is even more challenging.
A major problem with playing guitar and harp at the same time is keeping the tempo--for some reason it just wants to run away with me like a freight train. I have spent a lot of time with a metronome to get it to this point--but it still runs away sometimes. . .

Oldwailer: I say thats mighty good stuff. I really enjoyed!! Where did you get that rack. I have a friend with one like it. Mine got sat on last night, did'nt like it anyway. Most of my rack playing (guitar or keyboard) is classic rock. Neil Young,Jimmy Buffett, Etc. You've got me yearning the Blues.

I have tried many racks over the years--this is by far the best one I've had--you can actually adjust the angle of the harp to your lips to some degree--makes it a lot easier to play.
It will probably scratch the ends of your harps a bit--but I say, what the hell--they don't last forever anyway--it ain't like they're Martins!
The racks are available at:

At least--that's where I got mine. . .

Thanks oldwailer: Been to the site, going to make an order. I actually just bent mine back as straight as possible, think I like it better this way. Don't know if you have checked out Jimi Lee from Austin Tx. Best I've ever seen in the rack, I think Adam would back me up. If you have'nt, you'll want to check out his youtube. I think hes playing mister magic! Thanks again K.C.

Yes, KC, I have checked Jimi Lee out a few times--he's one of my idols.
For this type of music, check out Richard Sleigh at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UzJn13CJio
He's my personal God of Rack playing--and he even has a couple of vids on the tube on how to do it!

Nice job- you're a good singer. I've been trying to play blues harp and piano at the same time but its pretty hard for me to coordinate, not to mention my Hohner neck rack kind of sucks- you can't adjust the hight so I have to look down awkwardly to play. Any advice? ---------- "Without music, life would be a mistake" -Nietzsche

Well, Patrick, the rack I used in this song works great for me--I posted a link above to where you can find one--but I don't know if it would work for piano or not--I used to play a little piano, but I never tried it with harp.
On the harp handle there is some height adjustment--but I don't know if it would be enough.
Thanks everybody, for all the good reviews. . .
