I've had one MB from the 60's. Awful stuff. Pre-war MBs were good. ---------- www.truechromatic.com

"one in seven sucks" i don't mean to be combative, but i feel the figure is higher than that.
when i started playing there were not many choices of harmonicas. there was the MB by hohner and the BLUESHARP, also by hohner.
you had to really work to play these harps.
new marine bands are still like they were in 1972. leaky, prone to swelling, reeds out of alignment, bad gapping, occaisional bad riveting, wide tolerances, and,to top it all off, held together with nails.
if you fix all of these design flaws you have a harmonica that works well.
is it worth your time and money?

Kind of like the Fender Blues Jr. Swap the tubes, change the speaker and it's ok for harp. (Still has plastic knob wands, pc board issues, etc. though)

totally moose.
since i have performed all operations above and more i think you really gotta hand it to the pro customizers. all this stuff takes time, patience, and precision.
oh, you gotta tune it back up too.
the caveat is, that after a ton of work, the MB is a gorgeous harp to play.
