This is a really interesting slide show from the BBC showing the influence of a New York train line on music. Some great evocative pictures.

your post reminded me of this video, from a friend's band. no harp, but a lovely song. when he introduces it, he talks about being a kid in new york whose mom scrubbed floors to feed the family, but always found time to take him to coney island on the weekends. the "el" was his own personal "magic carpet made of steel (goodman)".

it struck me that it's one of the few urban train songs. most of 'em seem to be out in the country somewhere.
