The question? To bee or not to bee, Super B, you forgot the dirty south! Stop looking down man, put your stinger away, put your gaze back to her mouth... She's the queen, and we just drones circling around her sweet honey yeah. As the cat said: "Woman... skiddly-dee-dah, whoa man, woe.... man! It's a forum that's for 'em and for us so keep on the beat off the beat Nix the bad vibes and keep jivin'

I always wanted to be a writer. I've always thought dialogue was one of my stronger suites. I think I can write a handful of different dialects pretty well. I've even imitated Faulkner. It just occurred to me though, reading this, that I don't think I really have any idea how to do passable beatnik speak.
I shall away. The language is learning. (Hmm, I seem to have hit the Old English button instead...)

You jive turkeys be drinkin from the drug induced den of thieves inhibited by the psyche of the colored girls go dut di dutdidut dut di du du dit where Andy Warhol pissed in the corner of rancid debauchery - drugs, speed, heroin, lust, bondage to self - philosophers of long ago, cognitive disorders that mimic the answer only to supply the question where there once was negative philanthropy, not knowing the consequences yet following the blues and little walters demons to the depths of blackness, oh hear the yell of the bluest of notes, make way for lost souls yet to be eaten alive by harmonic madness that echoes mindlessly throughout the wretched walls of hell. You harmonica playing tin eared jive turkeys listen, selah.

Hey Nacoran, as you know I actually am a writer. Its a pain in the ass sometimes, like any other job - prolly more so. You do write very well. On dialects, I think the trick is to not accurately portray the dialect, but just do enough to give the flavor, kind of like when you playa piece of music and imply some if the notes ala Junior Wells. I will tell you who was good at dialects, Erskine Caldwell. ---------- David

Billy keeps pulling his posts. His prerogative I guess, but it leaves a huge hole in the threads.

billyshines writes poems first, with only a few exceptions for odd reasons, where he's given the illustration first. Thus he is a special snowflake and being nothing is absolute, with the debatable exceptions of this statement and preferably death - billyshines does not permit exceptions and He is to be appreciated by his general effects, and not by particular exceptions. Sometimes his seemingly decline of manners and cynical pursuits are subjectively viewed without shame or restraint of personal advantage, which give power to his musical restraints regardless of our feelings, not without withholding of course, our emotions, which are not defined perfectly, but more than we ought to be comfortable with. The harmonica player in general seeks love, affection and respect, in that order. With few notable rebellions, they are simply folks who want to be loved. That said, There are those whose sole claim to profundity is the discovery of not accepting the mores of society. With billy shines there seems to be one quality of mind which seems to be of special and extreme advantage in leading him to make discoveries. It really is the power of never letting exceptions go unnoticed. I doubt billy would want to be modest about it, though you'll find that with only a couple of caveats, most of the threads that billy has participated in have brought out the best from all members on this forum. It's true that total falsehoods can be easily exposed for what they are by citing exceptions to their claims. Hence, they are less likely to be accepted as the total truth. And it is best to treat everyone with respect and kindness. Period. Though life is not fair and with but few exceptions, it is always the underdog who wins through sheer willpower. All in all Billyshines lives what he writes, or knows something about it. There are curves in the road, story songs, where you just have to have your facts straight. But I think you don't have to live a hard life to ask good or interesting questions, though when answering, it is imperative that you do. Some go on stage and pretend they are other people, but to pretend is to be mentally handicapped. It is really wrong, like being a bad magician. billyshines whether he knows it or not is a Christian comic. Think about it, the whole idea of the transformation... mystery, transformation, and manipulations - those are the things that make him great. That's his magic. Familiarity for billy is cruel to beauty but kind to ugliness. We know, of course, that trees and plants have roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reach up toward the light. But we are all coming to realize that billyshines is light itself. I'll end with that profound insight.

"Miles, I'm afraid a translation would only make the analysis of covariance regarding fictional comprehension strategies more difficult to understand?"
In Journalism class we once were given the assignment to take the sentence, "My Roommates Socks Stink." and complicatify it. I had the longest at 85 words. It went something to the effect of, "My college-assigned dormitory-cubicle-cohabitant's under-sneaker-white cotton-weave foot apparel has developed at truly malodorous cloud of foot bacteria and sweat based chemical markers that are wafting through the aforementioned college assigned dormitory cubicle and into the awaiting proboscides is generating electrical signals to the appropriate lobe of my thought processing matter, which is sitting atop my spinal column, which is located in my body, in the State of New York, on the Planet Earth, in the Sol system, in the Milkyway Galaxy somewhere in the Universe."

Miles I agree. I absolutely hated "philosophy" though I got an "A" in it...I hated it because I could sum up in one sentence what took some philosophers a whole friggin book to get their point across. The teacher was a wackjob too - if you said thin he said fat, if you saw blue he saw black, there were no absolutes...The more BS you could fit into a test paper the better your grade. Sittin in his class was like being in the twilightzone - sorta like this thread?

Frank, your question mark at the end pretty much says it all: "Miles, I'm afraid a translation would only make the analysis of covariance regarding fictional comprehension strategies more difficult to understand?" But at least it was a one sentence version (to get your point across?) instead of the book in your prior post. ...there is no need to adjust your television set.
