Tone-bone... hahahahaha! You owe me a quarter, lol! No, seriously, thanks for the little plug, Wheezer. That brightened my day.
That's clean compared to some of the stuff I've seen! Lemme see... I've seen maggot cocoons, the worst was a harp that was severely out of tune, I get it in for repair and it had this greeness that was a quarter inch thick ON THE REEDS! Those white coverplates are gorgeous! On the painted coverplates... might it help it you put on some coats of clear coat and followed it with a waxing. Do you think that might help?
I got a real kick at the end "this has been a tone-bone harmonicas production..."

@ Dave. I just thought that Tone-Bone said it all. What a great name, how the hell did you think of that. I hope you don't mind me nicking it. I'm about to put some harps on Ebay and they are going to be sold as "Tone -Bone Harps". I hope that's o.k. My next door neighbour builds guitars and he now has Tone-Bone nuts from my off-cuts (anyone not into music will be wondering what the hell we're talking about). That is about the worst comb I've had to deal with but I also have had some pretty disgusting reedplates and the worst culprits for the green always seem to be Lee Oskar. Is there anything you use to stop the reedplates tarnishing. When the harp has been rebuilt everything is clean and shiny but after a few days the brass loses its lustre.Any suggestion would be appreciated. Pete
Oh, absolutely use "Tone bone" when I thought of it it was tongue in cheek - I do write for a living, so I have to come up with stuff all the time, it gets kindof second nature. I'd be honored and everytime I see "tone bone" come up somewhere, I'll have a little smile, like I do now. I would be LMFAO if I saw a tone-bone nut on a guitar. Be nice if something caught on. I'm surprised my "prewarify" didn't catch on - seems a lot cooler to say than "opening up the back of the coverplate." On the reedplates tarnishing, Gee wheezer, just play em, lol.I guess you'd have to coat them with something to keep air and whatnot from them. I guess you could paint them or put a clear cut on them - I know you've got enough sense to keep that off the inside of the reedplate and the reeds. I dunno what it is, but Asian harps seem to green up worse than anything else.
