Planning a dream trip.
Maybe you guys who've 'been around the block', can help.
Point me to blues clubs and jam dives in Europe, especially London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Munich, Prague, Warsaw, Krakow, Budapest, Paris, Bordeaux, Lisbon, Marseille, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Milano, Firenze, Roma, Napoli, Ljubljana, Athens, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, Odessa, Tel Aviv, Beirut, well hell anywhere,
or North Africa: Tanger, Casablanca, Oran, Algier, Tunis, Tripoli, Cairo.
I've already been to some of these cities but I wasn't into blues yet.
Name of place, address or neighborhood, character of place, anything special about it. Fond memories.
Heck, I'll have to wait till next week to get to Asia and the Far East.
Thank You!

I got mugged in Budapest once. Well, actually, it was more like seven or eight guys surrounded me wanting money and I told them to go to hell, pushed my way through them and walked off. Then on my way back to Austria, the guy who was sitting next to me got taken off the train at gunpoint (unrelated to mugging). And the train caught on fire. When I crossed the border into Austria, I was glad to be back.
Good times.

In London you should check these places out:
-
Ain't Nothing But http://www.aintnothinbut.co.uk
Probably London's best blues club. Live music every night. Great jam on Monday night's, I think there is also one on Sunday afternoons. You'll often find "West Weston and the Bluesonics" playing here.
Always a great atmosphere but it's fairly small and always very popular so get there earlier to avoid the "one in, one out" queue which can take over an hour to get through.
-
Sam's Jam – At Ally Cats http://www.alleycatbar.co.uk/
Wednesday nights, great jam run by local musician Sam Hare (http://www.samhare.com/). Always great musicians down here, one of the best Jams in London. The club is situated on Denmark Street - London's "Tin Pan Ally". – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark_Street – "The Rolling Stones recorded their first album at Regent Sounds Studios on Denmark Street in 1964"
-
The Blues Kitchen – Camden http://www.theblueskitchen.com/
This place has live music every night, not strictly blues but mostly blues, roots and americana music. Blues Jam on Sunday afternoons/evenings.
-
Round Midnight http://www.roundmidnightbar.com/
Blues and Jazz bar. Live music every night. Regular acoustic roots night on Mondays and Blues Jam on Tuesdays.

Have fun!

Wonderful response so far. Thanks so much. As she said, "Don't stop."
Also the anecdote like David's very welcome.
@David, there's an old proverb, "If you have a Hungarian for a friend you don't need any enemies."
(I am part Hungarian.)
Thanks again!

In Rome: Big Mama and/or Fonclea. (You´ll find them both on the web.) Both in the heart of the city. Edit: You won´t get mugged in Rome BTW. Pickpockets, yes, but no serious violence -- a very likeable aspect of their civilization.
