Can somebody help me?
I've not been on myspace since it was relevant. That was a long time ago. back several years ago, I was in an acoustic blues duo with my cousin. We played a lot of Robert Johnson, Charlie Patton, Skip James, that kind of stuff. We did some originals, too, "Blues Tornado" was one I can remember I wrote, but no recordings exist of those. Well, I came across my myspace page - I can't get into the account and I don't even have the e-mail address that I had then, I just can't log in. There's a couple of songs on there that Roger did so wonderfully on guitar and vocals and I was playing chromatic with him. There is a video of he and me doing "Hard Time Killing Floor Blues," but there is no other copy extant of us doing moon going down. I'm hoping somebody might be able to extract this. If I had a double phone plug, I'd record it from the speaker jack, but I don't, nor have I two phone plugs I can solder together to make on. Can anybody extract this as an audio file for me? Thanks!

Hi Dave, If you can listen to the tracks (or watch videos), they get cached by your browser, but usually the file name is not obvious (random letters and numbers). There are browser add-ons for Firefox, Chrome, etc. that will help you find and extract the files. You can also just Google for how to extract files form the cache of your particular browser. Hope this helps. ----------

I tried using Audacity but my sound card doesn't seem to support recording internal sounds; I know my old computer could. Probably an RIAA conspiracy. I tried so&so's cache trick. I wasn't able to get that file with the demo version of the cache sorting program I found.
The list of files I've browsed today is huge. I use Chrome as my browser. This is what I typed in my start bar search to find the Chrome folder in Windows 7.
%LocalAppData%\Google\Chrome\user data\default\cache
If you use a different browser the location will be different, but a quick Google search should run down the location. Then, I'd open the folder, make sure that your song is the only page open and wait for the clock to strike midnight (well, actually, you could use any arbitrary time stamp I guess, but midnight seems so much more dramatic.) Hmm, not having much luck finding it though. :(

You should also clear your cache before you play the sound or video file you want to retrieve. Then there won't be a million things in there. ----------

So, I Just move and rename the file? Thanks guys. I will try that. Moon Going Down was one of the first things I did on chromatic where I really had to work the button. There used to be a video of it on YouTube, but it was lost. ---------- David Elk River Harmonicas

Windows 7 does not send audio through the record buss the way that XP did. If you have an XP machine you can record using Audacity (or anything similar) while playing back the Myspace audio.

Dave, glad you got your file. Extracting video and mp3s, etc. from your browser cache can come in real handy though. Here is a blog post I found on the subject. I've used that VideoCacheView software before too. It's free. Once you know what you're looking for and where to look, you don't need that software any more. ----------
