I was thinking about buying a shaker mic, there is an option for a 1/4" jack model and XLR model.

The XLR is more expensive, are there any advantages to having and XLR model?

Any information about the differences woude be appreciated as I don't know much about mics.

Thanks, Ryan

I'd go with the quarter inch since that's what almost all guitar / harp amps use, unless you're going to be playing through a PA

I agree with Patrick...1/4". Plus, if your cord ever funks out, you can usually borrow an extra from one of the axeslingers.
Love my Shaker for the lightness and the sound.

Good luck with it!

Yes they are Belfast harper and they are a great little mic. My missus bought me my first mic for my birthday and it was a Shaker Dynamic. I agree with getting the 1/4 jack input as you can use it on most amps then. They are lovely to hold and really light.
You can pick them up from the States much cheaper than over here. My missus paid £90 from a local music shop for mine but I think you can get them for about £35 to £40 if you ordered one from the States or about £70 from a UK dealer.
It's a really good idea for a first mic and you will still use it years from now as they do have a lovely sound.
