Well, its semi-official but I have to tell SOMEBODY. I don't have his quote yet, but I am very pleased to tell you that Rick Estrin is now playing a BlowsMeAway wood mic. Rick is not an easy guy to please. He has honed his show and tone for 40 years. So he knows what he wants and doesn't tone-wise. He is also a showman and for him I wanted to max out the "bling" factor. Together we arrived at the following design......

Congrats, Greg! Does not come as a surprise, given the top flight customer service and products you offer.
BTW, the custom SM57 with the cup holder works great for me. ---------- TheKrowe

Can see why you let the cat out of the bag.Saw Rick and the nightcats about a month ago in my hometown vegas.Two hour show with encore,and all original songs very impressive.
His band anchored by guitar monster Kid Anderson was superlative.His songs are a mixed bag of old school blues,rock,rockabilly,and definately california swing,with the old venture surf sounds blended on a few,but really hard to put a label on.
Rick cut loose on some songs playing through a purple harpking amp that just electrified that audience,and had them up dancing.I bought a cd,had it signed.
Bought a woodie fom Greg at HCH,and am really pleased,okay it was expensive,but man oh man.

This is further evidence of what a cool guy Rick Estrin is. Sweet-looking mic, Greg. I like the blue paint. Congrats!

@BronzeWailer -that is not paint - the grill is anodized aluminum. Anodizing is an electrochemical process that creates a colored layer of aluminum oxide on the surface. Aluminum oxide? Very tough stuff - what sandpaper is made from. It is the same process used to make Ultimate mic barrels red, and my volume control barrels black. Very scratch resistant, much tougher than paint. ---------- /Greg

Say Greg,
If this is the same process as used on the red barrels for ultimates, then why aren't ultimates available in blue as well? Looks soooooo much better to me. I hate the red. Could help tipping the scale over so to say :)

@FreeWilly
Anodizing is not something one should do at home. It involves nasty chemicals and is better left to others - which is what I do. When you have something anodized, you're renting tank time and there is a minimum charge, which for the only place near me is $75 PER COLOR. I do about a hundred Ultimate barrels at once - so the cost is managed. Further, I don't want to have to inventory multiple colors - you can never predict very well who will want what so you end up with $$ in barrels sitting around you can't sell. Finally, I chose red because it is recognizable. Everyone knows that is an Ultimate mic. That is good for my business. If you really want a blue Ultimate mic you can have one (and people have indeed ordered blue and black Ultimate mics) . It means a 2 week delay and a $75 surcharge to cover the cost. And yes, I invested the $75 to have Rick's grill anodized. That was a one-off too. ---------- /Greg

I think it is probably about time that Greg creates a list of the top pro touring harp players that do not play his mics, it would be a much shorter list :-)

Thanks for the reply Greg. It's a shame, but a very clear understandable answer!
Even if it will be red then, I'm still hoping to be able to afford one one day :)
