Many of us harp players/musicans/whateveritiswheares have the gift of children who have a great deal of talent. I've seen a few of the members' kids in action-harpdude61 being the most recent, with a vid of him and his guitar-playing son. I'm hoping you folks will post more here.
Here are a few vids of my second-oldest, Justin. He is 18, and will graduate high school next week. His list of accolades over the last two or three years far surpasses anything I have done in almost 25 years of playing live. He played Carnegie Hall this year-that one gig alone says it all! He will be attending LSU in the fall as he pursues a doctorate in music education. To say that me and his mom are proud is an understatement...
Here's a vid of my youngest daughter tap busking at Granville Island Market. (dark button jacket, light jeans, in front) It's with TapCo from the Vancouver Tap Dance Society, raising money to cover festival expenses. She's also the percussion section leader in the senior high school concert band. A daemon on timpani.
Tap-busking...there's a new term for me. Very cool! Timpani's a tough one to master, for sure. Justin's known mainly for marimba and vibes, but also plays...well, everything else on the percussion line, too. Thanks for posting, Blue. ---------- Todd L. Greene
No video yet of my mutant munchkin playing harp, though I swear to you, not long ago he bent his first note on my Educator 10. :-) Did me so proud. LOL. But here's a couple pictures of him just after he turned 1. He'll be 2 on the 26th.
Okay this is corny but I dare ya not to smile a little bit. These are two of my grandkids and my lab/border Maggie. I try to make sure Saturday mornings are always fun at Poppaw Dude's house (my son got them to calling me that).
I truly believe that early exposure to music should be all about fun.
MAggie is a hoot. She finds her squeeze toy ever time I play my harp. I wonder if she believes she is doing the same thing I am. Funny!
