For all you gear heads out there.
Died May 13 at 89.
The End of a great era in sexy and fast cars. He tagged his name to some of the overall best cars ever built!
Is there anyone out there who will equal or best this kind of auto art?

Wow...I missed that. Saw Duck Dunn passed but not Shelby....

I don't think anyone will be able to match his style when it comes to body work. Enzo Ferrari even gave him his due. But in terms of performance, there are some names I could mention who were on a par with him. Don Yenko, Jack Roush, and George Hurst to name a few...

@Hawkeyekane- Yenko,Roush and Hurst palein comparison-I think even they would say so.
None of them designed complete cars-some of the most prized and sought after autos in the world-the Shelby Mustangs,Cobras and the GT-40. HE also had a hand in developing the Dodge Viper.
Shelby set 16 international speed records, won the 24 of Lemans while taking nitro glycerin for a heart condition he had,and won a road race after breaking his elbow, removing the plaster cast, and replacing it with a fiberglass cast.
Godspeed to the last American icon-
