This post definitely falls under the category of “Shameless Self-Promotion” so I beg your indulgence. After many months of hard work I was able to launch my redesigned website over the weekend.

www.BlueMoonHarmonicas.com

I now offer a wide assortment of combs, powder coated cover plates and replacement reed plates – mostly Hohner diatonics. I also have a limited supply of parts for Lee Oskar and Suzuki diatonics.

All the parts can be purchased a la carte OR they can be ordered as a Do-It-Yourself Kit. The fun part is that you get to design your own harmonica using a veritable rainbow of colors.

Check out my “Harmonica Creations” which are completed harps built from the same components available to you. The completed harps are priced at about a 15% discount compared to purchasing the parts and building it yourself.

I am also offering fully customized Pre-War Marine Band 1896’s. At this point I do not have the skills to qualify as a Reedsmith so I contract that work out to highly regarded customizers to work their magic. If you’ve never played a fully customized Pre-War Marine Band then you would be amazed at how beautiful they sound and how well they play.

The concepts for my website and business model have evolved as a direct result of being a part of this and other harmonica forums. All I did was listen to you. I believe that if you just listen to people, they will tell you exactly what they want. I have tried to respond to what people have told me – either directly or indirectly. So from that perspective I owe profound thanks to a lot of people.

My business philosophy is fairly simple. I strive to offer high quality products at reasonable prices and deliver them quickly. I stand behind every product with a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee and have a total commitment to exceptional customer service.

I am human (therefore not perfect) and I do make mistakes. So customer service is critical. When I make a mistake I do everything in my power to make it right. I’m putting that statement out there for all to see so there is no mistaking my commitment to service. I am humbled by the support I have received from so many people. Sixteen months ago I began my business by offering two types of wood combs for the Golden Melody. Today I offer over 160 different products with more on the way. My business could not possibly have evolved to this point without your support. So far, it has been an extremely rewarding experience for me and one that I hope to enjoy with your blessings for a long time.

Thanks for the indulgence.

P.S. I will be attending the Hill Country Harmonica festival in three weeks and I am looking forward to the whole experience – especially meeting many of you who will also be there.

Tom,

I acknowledge your business has moved on, however one wooden comb I had from you I have put in the bin, because my harmonica customiser could not work on it.

This customiser (uk) is reccomending using Hetrick combs..what is going on?.

Hello Nick. Long time no speak. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for the kind words.

Regarding your question, I am at a loss to give you an intelligent answer without more information. That said I freely admit to being human and it is entirely possible that a comb I produced was less than spectacular. There is a steep learning curve in play here and it is safe to say that the combs I produce today are signifantly better than those I produced a year ago. I have had a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee since Day One. All one need do is ask I will immediately refund their full purchase price and shipping charges. You, of all people, should know how easy I am to get along with. We have exchanged numerous emails and I have been extremely accommodating to you - have I not?

From what I have seen and read, it is clear to me that Hetrick makes very fine products. It is easy to understand why a customizer might choose to work with their products. We all have different preferences and I feel privileged when anyone considers me as an option. I would love to hear from your customizer to find out what he doesn't like about my combs. Since I started this business I have learned the most from my harshest critics. These are the people I am the most grateful to because their criticism has helped make very positive differences in my products. Let's be honest - if you really want to be the best - then you have to learn to embrace criticism, not hide from it. It is unfortunate that things have not worked out (yet) the way I would have preferred, but thank you for the opportunity to move in the direction of resolving this issue.
