Aloja, fellow gear heads!
Eye candy time..I got some beautiful toys!
Wanna play?
Having seen the earlier stages of the 200 chop process. This might be cool to checkout, if this is something you'd like to do..
I know, I know, glitter's not your thing.
Here's the last step. After doing some creative bodywork, the 200 chrome grill came out well.
First off the bench.
I just finished a couple like this.
Now I have nice new mic toy, to play with. Notice the lack of flush screw holes...the grill screws sit on top of the shell as opposed to the usual flush screw heads. It must be an old one.
And
...a pretty bitchin rig-of-the-month, too.
I'll have 8 more mics soon. Ordering gaskets are next.
I'll be trying the mic out tomorrow...too bad I can't make noise where I live.
I could more freely, pick and choose elements alot easier.
..what the hell, they always gonna bitch about it.
Hey! A couple ear piercing honks and barks never hurt anyone, eh?
My Masco MA17 is in good form since I found out it matches up pretty well with the 2X12 16ohm matched smooth cone Rola's.
All it needs is a sweeeeeeeeet element inside. Soon soon!
It definitely begs for attention...
I hope it is a goodun.
My all time favorite mic is the EV 920 w/ Greg Heumann custom grill... with the Astatic 200 chops coming in at a CLOSE 2nd place...

Thanks for looking oh, here's the 4X10 cab I am so fond of. It only works good with the Masco MA17.
It's just a little too tall for hauling around. And it is LOUD as a mufuh! MUFUH!

thanks guys, this computer thang gets confusing, especially on my day off when, I'm trying to roll one, pick my favorite shots, juggle my coffee, pet my cat, talk to friends stopping by, and all.
 Happy Sunday!

wow! is right. The 4X10 cut through the band volume level, with room to spare. I matched all (4) 8 ohm speakers. Wired in parallel series. The Masco MA17 is mufuh kin loud! In a good way. With truck loads of bottom, and midrange cut, there was no drowning me out anymore. Instead of telling to turn up, for a change people were complimenting me and one even said turn down a little. Ha! NO WAY. The mic performed well. It's a keeper. The white CR was as good or better than my regular favorite CM in my EV920. This is good. I now have a decent back up rig and mic set up. I was getting worried. Here's a shot of my stash of amps and some mics thrown in for good measure. ----------

Thanks SuperB. that's a nice medium to large head amp above pic....tell me more bout that, please. Looks tweed and vintage. It has great lines. Beautiful! Yeah, I have enough right now. After last night, I now have a better than decent back up 3o watt amp. (I consider the MAsco to be a 30 watt)It really made the cut with the house band. The sound guy was amazed it wasn't mic'd. MAsco MA17 probably is for 17 watts. But after hearing it, you would be hard pressed to convince many. It is as loud as a 30 watt...hands down/ That is a good question. There was a discussion on that very subject. The second row left is a homeade tweed combo for a kalamazoo model one. My friend made it a tad too big and bulky. It sounds great but a bit of a chore lugging it around. It's actually a mirror image of the size and shape of the snake skin above it. And the tweed in the back is a 59BassmanRI. My other 30 watt amp. fyi I have just secured a couple new band members for my band. The Flat Five Blues band. Funny side bar, after a few months of using the name, it was brought to my attention, there was another band called the same. Oh well. It's hard being original these days, eh? Tough luck...the name stuck, and that's the end of it. But these new cats are super good, they both play bass and guitar, and will trade off for variety, and 'wow' factor, and they love my playing, and the material. What more can a harp player ask for? Welll, if they had tits and a pussy, we could have a little more fun. cheers! ----------

Camera doesnt lie, but photography can be deceptive. my avatar shot is a little amp built into the case of an Australian valve radio. It does have very nice lines I think, but it is a heat resistant plastic material. probably looks a bit nicer in photo than in flesh (its a little beat-up in reality). This was a mantle radio, made in '64 (like me). Kriesler 11-81. It's only 5watt, uses transformers, chassis and speaker from radio. Valve complement is same as Kalamazoo 1, and circuit is based on champ 5f1. Has internal oval speaker, but that will not handle the output above about half, so I plug it into the single 8" cab it's sitting on. Except the rectifier socket has fallen apart so it is out of action for a while. Your bassman up the back I had picked for original, thanks to the aged tweed. Love that Masco head. I have a 14 watt 1948 Filmosound (2 x 6V6) in the works

its coming along. I have decided to dump the idea of the aluminium cowl and put a timber box around it instead. and i need some matching knobs, or an extra knob which matches the 2 i have. sounds good through a 4x10 bass cab. ive put together a 2x8" (weber 8A100) for it...

Yeah, the Kalamazoo One is pretty versatile. It sounds incredible with 2X12, and now I am told it will sound good with a 4X10, too? Gotta try it now. I have this one I used last night with the MAsco. This 4X10 cedar cab a friend built for me. I found an old 40's school house desk on the curb one day. My friend carefully took it apart and made this beast for me. He normally builds cabinets, and houses, so he just did exactly what I told him. Now I know what to do, and it may be too late to cut it down a foot or so. This would enable me to carry it up and down stairs much easier. Over all the sound of these little jewels is understated. Those few of us in-the-know, only broadcast it amongst our close pals on MBH. Which may already have contributed to the price increase over the years. There's enough to go round for another 50 years. Or just have a tech copy the schematiccs and build one brand new. The Rola speaker is a super fine speaker. (a little research will prove.) But most people pass em bye on Ebay. Thank you very much! Your 4X10 idea sounds credible. I know, they are great with 2X12's as well. I can't wait to check out the 4X10. thanks. I picked out (4) 10's with the same ohms. And have yet to try it out on the Kalamazoo One. I also have an Admiral (2) EL84 console amp from the 1960's. Which has proven it's worth over the years. As a head cab, now...it can be utilized, in more ways than one. The pair of EL84's are truly sweeeeeeeet. Play on my friend, thanks for sharing. Having good gear that is cheap to acquire, re-build, and maintain, is all I'm after. Good to see other thrifty conscious folks out there! Ahhhhh! a labor of LOVE, indeed. ----------

I've unintentionally misled you I think Mojokane; I meant the Filmosound through the 4x10. I have used my kinda-zoo through a 410 and it was ok but it didn't really keep up with the drumkit so I didn't bother again. Yeah, looking back at my post I see it's unclear. The pics are of my Filmosound in progress.

OK. yeah, but I'll still try it with my Admiral (2) EL84. The Rola 10's you see above are low watt and may sound fairly decent. thanks for the clarification on the Filmasound. So you did try it with the Zoo, to no satisfaction...got it. Hey, gotta experiment. I was pretty amazed. I'll get back to you after I try the above... note, The Zoo truly powers up 2X12's without any problem. Must be low watt and smooth cone spkrs, like a Rola. The way they're made,IMHO, seems to have more bottom. I tried everything, too. Not only because they're cheaper than most. The Rola speaker, not field coil type, is a well kept secret... The (rare)Brush crystal element combo, performs best. But anything does well...the zoo is hard to beat.

Howzit!? I went out last night, and played the Admiral Tweed. FYI It is an early American made(2) EL84 console amplifier. I bravely tookout my prize hand made wooden Eucalyptus cab, with 2X12 Rola smooth cones. OMG!! This little amp has BIG balls. Like the Kalamazoo One, only twice as loud. FYI the Admiral amp is a mono amp, with(1)5Y3, (1)12AX7, (1)6av6,(2) EL84's, volume, treble, and bass, knobs. here's a pix.
I have since changed the design of the housing. And turned it into a cool little head cab. Very good move people. This is enough for small to medium venue.
My preference lately,is to mic it with a Sennhieser E609, through the PA. This way, I can use the sweetness the 609 produces, with the flexibility and variety of effects, which the board allows me to access. Even dry with no mic, or effects, the amp is phenomenal. All on a tight budget, too. For some reason these amps are nasty distorted in a really good way. thanks for lookin... oh and MP tunes all my harps, too. Nobody better, in my book. Service to the MAX, too. ----------
