A departure from the norm & I’m seeking input as to what others think? It’s music but the harmonica is incidental as I am really only accompanying Australias finest group of singers and musicians. None read music or know anything about keys or tempo as they are all naturally gifted. I would love to be able to hit such crystal clear single notes or even better be able to emulate the beautiful warble of the Magpie in the final frames.
Most was shot & all was recorded over the past 2 days whilst out on a morning walk through parks & reserves in our suburb of “The Gap’ in Brisbane Australia. Apologies for the sound as it varies a bit. Even at 7am there was a lot of noise pollution ie from light aircraft, cars etc which I deleted but left in the sound of a mosquito. Editing was tedious as I used recordings from both video cam & my H2Zoom.
For those interested the Whip Bird & Bell Birds are tiny elusive creatures with great reserves of ‘tone & volume’. The shots of the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo & the Magpies were taken not 50m from our front door as they are common backyard visitors. The Cockatoo has a lousy voice!
Hey nice job Aussie! That's set me up for the day nicely. I enjoyed the tranquil vid and birdsong and it was good to hear you play 'Morning has broken' with the low F harp in two octaves.
Hope that Mossie didn't get you btw!
Bought back good memories of my two trips to Oz. Driving down the coast from Sydney to Melbourne and also spending time down at Lorne and the rain forest in Apollo bay.
Great diversity of animals and birds there, though I must say didn't get on at all well with the sticky flies! ---------- Grey Owl YouTube Grey Owl Abstract Photos
Thanks Greyowl. I concur that the flies here at times are a menace. When travelling we always have fly veils on our hats but it gets a bit messy when having a beer! The harp wasn't meant to be the focus but I chose a low key to contrast with the bird calls. ---------- HARPOLDIE’S YOUTUBE
I used to have a sounds of the rain forest CD that was nice and relaxing like this... right up until the part where they recorded a mosquito buzzing around!
I like it. I might bring the harp up just a smidge. There are a few spots where it is too quiet even if your goal is to let the birds shine. Really nice playing though. It really fits the mood very well.
Thanks FMWoodeye. You should make it downunder sometime. I don't quite think my pics are up to the same standard as National Geographic but thanks for the compliment. It is a nice natural area to live with lots of birds, wildlife & trees. But still too many people. ---------- HARPOLDIE’S YOUTUBE
