For those of you who have been waiting it out for the release of the Fender Pawn Shop amps, the Excelsior and the Greta, I just received an email from musiciansfriend that they now have them IN STOCK. Good hunting all!

I think the Excelsior is cool. I'm gonna check it out when the local store gets one. I'm getting familiar with my Mustang and the Fuse software. I'd like to see just how close the computer can get to the tubes.

I think I'd prefer the Champ 600 over the Greta. It's fifty bucks cheaper and I love the looks.

@mandowhacker

I can see your reasoning on the Champ 600. As a standalone, the Champ would be better, no doubt about that. But as I've pointed out, the Greta would make a great preamp device on top of a larger amp. The VU meter is just killer, and the front and back faces are wood, so the obnoxious red color could be painted over.

Just been looking at the greta online. And to me it looks pretty cool for home use, I like the idea of the aux line in so I could play backing tracks through the amp while playing. I'm not sure how a small speaker would sound for harp but then folks seem to like the honey tone and the like which have pretty small speakers too.

It said that the valves it uses are pretty uncommon but I wouldn't be able to say whether that's a good or bad thing.

As far as how it looks, my wife saw what I was looking at and she said it looked pretty cool compared to some of the other amps, which isn't a bad thing as it means it wouldn't have to hide in a cupboard :o)

I've been waiting on those too, cant wait to try them out. My son has a Mustang I that is pretty cool so I just got one in the Mini version to use for harp. I was debating on waiting for the pawn shop series but for what I wanted I think the mini mustang will be plenty and it was some cheaper. Plus I want to see what I can do with the fuse software models too. When I get better at playing amplified I'll probably look at one of the others though.
