The entire concert Cyndi Lauper did in Tokyo is online now. May not be for long due to copyright. Charlie Musselwhite is all over it.

And, for some sort of TV promo for the concert, this one is just Cyndi, Charlie and the keyboard player - tune starts @ 2:00

As cool as her blues album is....Charlie's gotta be getting tired of touring with her. I know I would be by now.

I wouldn't--It's a great gig, gets his face and playing out there.
They are both class acts.

Hmmm. Get paid to play with other pros while somebody else handles everything. Travel the world, large audiences, television exposure. Yeah, that gig sucks.

It's great to see Charlie getting that kind of exposure.

"Charlie's gotta be getting tired of touring with her. I know I would be by now."

Why??? Getting well paid to fit harp to unusual material playing with a hot road band seems like it would be a pretty interesting musical experience IMHO.

i don't have any of her albums, but I've always considered CL to be a pretty entertaining performer as far as pop/rock divas are concerned and with hipper material than the usual pop/rock singer.

Also, if you've been listening to the recordings of her tour on YT, the arrangements of certain tunes change fromm concert to concert, so the musicians are not just regurgitating the same performance every time they hit the stage which has to make the gig more interesting.

Charlie just show us what the name of this forum is in reality.
He plays a modern blues harmonica. Play the blues? No, But he plays modern blues harmonica. I admire people like him. People who dare to go outside the frames sometimes.

LR.. Is it me you wrote to?
If i done that people around me should ask who the harp player is. I live in Sweden.
Most people, over here, don't see harmonica as a real instrument. They see it as a toy or as a torture tool.

It was based on hvyj's comment of not owning any of her recordings.

Spoke to Charlie tonight - Cyndi Lauper is finally done touring. She has a play and a book to promote next evidently. So that just leaves him with his own band and his work with Hot Tuna - and he is ready for the rest! He has been touring with her on top of everything else for almost 2 years.

For the record, he has told me previously he REALLY enjoyed working with her. Behind the scenes she is kind, funny, real, and a hard worker with high expectations.
