Monday night was a lot of fun for me. RJ Mischo came to town for the weekly Blue Monday show held at The Alamo here in Springfield by the Illinois Central Blues Club. He had a guitarist/drummer with him, first name was Jeremy, and unfortunately for some reason I can't remember his last name. They just did a two piece show the whole night, and it was really fun to see RJ not only displaying his harp chops, but also pickin' n' grinnin' on his Danelectro guitar. My band's lead guitarist joined me there for a while, and for a staunch old guitar advocate, even he was impressed by RJ's chops on both instruments.

I had the great fortune to sit in with him for "Your Mama Was an Alley Cat", along with local legend Frank Parker on trumpet. He had a sweet rig he let me use. A classic JT30 with an MC-151 in it through a Fender Super Reverb with an additional Fender '63 Reverb unit for the normal channel.

I wasn't the only one who had the pleasure of playing with him. Our own dougharps made the drive over from Champaign/Urbana to enjoy the music, and he sat in with the duo for a couple numbers himself. It was good to finally meet another MBH member in the flesh. I stayed and chatted with RJ for a bit after Doug took his leave to make the drive home, and he said he had to be in Indy the next night. Wished him safe journeys and broken legs.

I managed to snap a few shots on my phone, though they aren't the greatest of quality. First two are just of RJ doin' it and doin' it good. Next two are Doug having fun with RJ's rig. Last one was a pic Doug took of me and RJ.
