Around here (central Florida,) guitarists are a dime a dozen, but a good bass player (with a blues feel) is rare as hen's teeth.
This is a song fragment that I can't attribute, but have long remembered:

"You may have your eyes glued to the star,
but your backside is swaying to the sound of the bass guitar."

I wrote a song for my band about a harp player who beats the devil in a head-cutting contest on harp. The punch line comes as the devil is laying out the conditions of the win.

'He demanded my whole kingdom
And a harp of gold...
But I got me the recording rights
That's why this job never gets old! (Maniacal laugh)'
