Hohner now has the Instant Workshop tool kits in stock. The price is $299. Quanities are limited. You can order on www.hohnershop.com or call the Free Reed Service Dept. (804)591-3745
These are wonderful tool kits with everything you need to tune, clean, set up, and replace reeds on your diatonic and/or chromatic. I use the same tools included in this kit for my everyday work.

Is there any information on what the kit includes? That seems like an awful lot of money for what I can see in the picture.

Tools Included in the HOHNER INSTANT WORKSHOP:
* Special Tuning Scraper * Reed Lifting Blade W/ Reed Wrench * Hook Tool * Fine Tuning File * Screwdriver (Slot + Philips) * Tube Of Valve Glue * Set of Windsaver Valves * Cleaning Cloth * Slide Oil * Combination Deriveting/Valve Perferation Tool * Reamer * Universal Holder * Drill Bit * Tap * Small Screwdriver * Star Nut Spanner * 50pc Special Nuts * 50pc Stud Bolts
The Kit also includes 2 Instructional booklets and an Instructional DVD.
These tools are very tough. I use them everyday and they've shown little to no wear. I repair/set up anywhere from 10-30 harps a day. If you have any questions about what the tools are, or what they do, I'll be happy to answer as best I can.

very nice tools Adam!
i bought a stripped down version of the Hohner kit with many of the above tools before they offered the deriveting tool, tap, nuts and bolts, reamers etc. etc. i had to buy the Seydel kit from David Payne for those things. i did have to make new reed wrenches out of stainless steel because i used the Hohner wrench on some 30s MBs. the pads are wider and my Hohner wrench has too much play now. it still has other uses. the reed scraper is nice for lowering pitch but works best for very fine tuning as it dulls rather quickly.
i think the Seydel file is a little better than the Hohner as it isn't as rough. i still use the Hohner file if i need to remove a lot of brass, then i'll switch to the Seydel to smooth things out on the fine tuning.
even so, i really like the Hohner tools ( they are far better than the Oskar tools) and i keep them in my travel repair kit along with a tuner and a small block of mahogany as a work surface/catch-all i modded to accept the supports of SPs/MSs, and drilled holes in it to hold my screws so they don't go rolling onto the floor. i hate that.
you get a ton of windsavers in the Hohner kit too.
i also like how the Hohner deriveter has removable, and therefore replaceable nibs. ----------

@Adam Hamil. Do you know if Hohner has their new supplies of individual reeds available yet, Every time I call they say that they are not in yet, and I could use a bunch of new reeds. My understanding is that they will be selling them in kits, or quantitys of five or ten, or something like that. What is the real scoop. ----------

@Adam Hamil I went to the site and was hoping to see reeds for sale but all I could see were replacement reedplates. Where can we get the screws, reeds etc? I'm in the UK so a European location would be good. Any ideas please?
Whoops just saw HarveyHarps post above. Ditto. ----------

Hohner (USA) currently sells individual reeds for $2.00 ea. plus a $9.00 shipping and handling charge for your entire reed order. Most of the commonly broken reeds are in stock. Best thing to do is call and ask.
B/c of the large number of different sizes and pitches, trying to incorporate them into an online store takes alot time. It is currently in the works though. The idea, I believe, is to eventually sell reeds in packs of 5, and be able to order them online. That's still pretty far off though.
@Tookatooka: I don't know where to get them in Europe. I will try to find out and get back to you. ---------- C. Adam Hamil HOHNER CERTIFIED Free Reed Instrument Technician

$2.00 a reed and $9.00 shipping!!!
When Harponline were in business it was 1/2 a Euro per reed (appx. $0.50)and to ship the order from Germany to the U.K. was appx. £3.00. (And you could order the reeds singly)

Harponline.de was a fantastic source for supplies of parts. It was a sad day when he went to work for Hohner and closed down the online store.
