I'm preparing to create my first YouTube videos so you all can critique my progress as a harmonica player. I'm getting all the necessary gear together, and I'm practicing hard so I don't look/sound like a complete harmonica novice. I have some questions about YouTube policies and etiquette:

1. I will be playing along with backing tracks that I have purchased from Dave Barrett, Joe Filisko, or other sources. Is there a copyright issue with this?
2. Should I give credit to the source of the backing track? How?
3. Some of the songs I intend to record are blues standards. Do I need to credit the songwriter/original artist in some fashion? How?
4. Some of the songs will consist of 12-bar blues verses with licks I have borrowed from various harmonica training books or websites and pieced together to form my own unique compositions. Do I need to credit my sources in these instances, or would these songs be considered my own?

Any recording/uploading tips you can provide would be appreciated!
Thanks folks.

1. More than likely - check the small print from any info that came with the tracks as to how thay can be used and distributed. You might be able to claim "fair usage" since it is not-for-profit use.
2. Yes - on the film itself and in the description box.
3. Yes - see 1 & 2
4. No

You might also want to check youtube guidelines. I remember a few years back facebook announced that any pictures and videos that were uploaded to their site would be treated as facebook property to trade, sell or pass on to advertisers. I pulled all of my photos. If you post original material expect it to be copied. There is some vaguery about copyright. Keep in mind that youtube is accessed from all over the world too, so copyrights might be useless in another country.

rbeetsme, I think they backed away from that. Most sites have something in the rules to that effect for legal reasons. It's a little legal tap dance so they can go after people who infringe on your copyright, and so you can't sue them for it being on their site. Facebook pushed it a little farther though, but if I remember correctly they backpedaled under public pressure.
