I'm often on the road, relying on my iPhone or iPad, or slow wifi on my computer when I read this forum. Many of the clips that folks embed don't work, so I don't get to hear them, and I assume other mobile members are having similar experience. If you're interested in getting your stuff heard easily by the most people, the following may be helpful.

The recent thread by Walter Tore where he invited accompanyment included several examples of what I describe below.

I imagine Android users have a different experience, and I hope they'll chime in here.

1. Clips embedded from Soundcloud will play back on iPhone and iPad. They load quickly and usually without issue, even on a slow network. They also work well on my computer. They get my vote for the best method.

2. YouTube and Vimeo videos will play *sometimes*, but on slow wifi networks they take too long to load, and I never bother. I suggest posting audio-only clips whenever possible.

3. Clips embedded from DivShare don't play, they don't even appear in the post.
EDIT: This applies only to iPhone or iPad, they did play in my browser on my laptop.

4. Nothing that uses Flash will play on an iPhone or iPad (this is Apple's bone-headed decision, alas it's reality).

5. Links to reverbnation and myspace pages are a royal PIA. They often don't link to the clip in question and the user interfaces are horrible even on a computer.

That's really valuable information easyreeder. I wonder if nacoran could include this info in the HowTo page. I'm sure not many people will know about this.

It is a PIA with so many platforms and formats available now. It's like my website, do I blog, facebook or twitter. Sheeze! What the hell is best? I don't know any more.

Both the computer I use now, and the one I had before have at all sorts of problems playing files from ReverbNation. I tend to use Drop Box most of the time now, although my account is getting pretty full. How does Drop Box work on mobile devices?

Nate, if you'll embed something in this thread I'll let you know. I'm mobile and on a flaky network for the next couple of days.

Here is a rough version Thumper, something I was working on that I never did get around to finishing. It's fun, but not terribly well produced or cleanly played. (It's two tracks, LLF and C.

:) Does it play?

The LLF doesn't really like being lip-popped that quickly; you can hear me struggling to keep up with the beat when I try to play faster at the end. Oh well. It's serves it's purpose as an HTML test.

It played on my iPad. But it showed up in an embedded QuickTime player. Was that on reverbnation? The problems ive had with that site were usually with linking to it, the links often don't seem to lead directly to the intended clip.
