---------- Hi I know I've been missing from these ranks for awhile. Trying to make a concerted effort to get out and play not sit on the computer. Well since then I haven't really been working on Harps either, just playing them and I'm back to I'm going to need new ones and Buddhas gone. How good are the crossovers and can I get good quality stage Harps with minimal tweaking. What have you guys found out about them?
Thanks Michael

I now own a few of them and I like them. They're loud, responsive, sturdy and overbend fairly well, but would need a little work to get them up to par in that department(mostly the ods).
I find you need to use some breathe control as you would with any airtight harp, but all in all, they don't choke all that easily.
I have a Session Steel and a Manji, but I like the Crossovers best right now, although the other harps are also excellent.
Hope that helps.

I really like the Crossovers. I've always been partial to Hohner but have tried to test around. Judging from some Seydels and Hohners and (most recently) Manjis, the Crossover is where it's at for ootb harps (when you can spare the cash). Alot of it is personal preference, but as for over blowing and over drawing as well as gaps I've been the happiest with the Crossover. ---------- Brad

Hi bluzdude, nice tassie devil you have there. I just ordered a bunch of crossovers for my standard kit after years of using an assortment of harps and not committing to anything. They are not cheap, but rockin' Ron has the best prices I could find. $61 a piece on orders of 4 or more. Best I could do locally was $83, and that's AUD not USD like Ron's price. PS I dunno if you care or are aware, but with that logo i figure you may be interested; the Tasmanian Devil is in great danger of extinction from a contagious cancer; Facial Tumour Disease. We already destroyed the Tasmanian Tiger 80 years ago through a campaign of eradication. Now we could lose the devil despite best efforts to save it. Disease free populations are being established on offshore islands and mainland Australia, and seem to offer hope at the moment. But the gene pool is very small.

Thanks guys, I'm used too airtight so I'm not worried there, prefer it they hold up better. I got used to customs and now don't really have the time to customize more then tweaking or the $$ and lead time to wait on another customizer that isn't proven to me. I'm thinking Crossover may be good middle ground answer. Thanks for the opinions. Just Blowin' the Blues! ----------

If you put a Hetrick BAMBOO comb on a Crossover after sanding the draw plate, the compression improves dramatically. The Hetrick BAMBOO comb is like magic the way it improves air tightness and response on Crossovers and MBDs--much better than the stock combs and better than any other Hetrick combs.
Dunno what it is that's so special about Hetrick BAMBOO Crossover/MBD combs, but they really perform excellently.
If you are interested in customs, the ones I recently got from HarpNinja (Mike Fugazzi) are excellent and reasonably priced. Better than my Buddha harps and with a MUCH smoother tone.

I like the Crossovers, they are my standard harmonicas. I can recommend them to you. They are adjusted very well and have a good response. In my opinion they are better than the MB deluxe. But anyway - you have to try them. It's a personal favor thing.

I also love Crossovers. I just discovered that they are identical to Marine Band deluxes except for the comb. Marine Band deluxes and Crossovers have identical reedplates.

@gumshoe The tuning is also different b/t the CROSSOVER and the MBD.
IMO The CROSSOVER is the best OOTB harmonica money can buy. Great response, cool tuning, and can be very dynamic. It's my go-to harp. I've replaced almost my entire set with them. I love the smooth coverplate corners. ---------- C. Adam Hamil Free Reed Instrument Technician
