sounds like you fit right in to me. great rhythm, fun licks, swingin' right along with the flow. first time out? not bad at all. yeah, i guess a dry mouth and nerves go hand in hand. i expect you'll get more relaxed with it. ---------- Matthew
Bravo Pedro, I think you did a great job, what a great driving sound that band has got. Dry mouth? Yeah tell me about it. It's just nerves, it will go. Hey, you even switched harps there. Kudos man.
I think we may have met at Kempinska's. Did I warn you about the tap gushing in the gents after the clinic? Not sure if it was you but I think it may have been. ----------

I had dry mouth the first time I played (last October I think). It went away completely after the 3rd jam. Don't worry about it.

@peduarte. Slicked down hair with a quif, sharp 50's look. That would have been Stuart then. Sorry for wrong ID :) ----------

Great start to your stage work. The dry mouth thing can be exacerbated by drinking beer. I know, because it used to happen to me in my early days of playing. This can be helped by always having something like a lemon squash handy. Not only does it prevent dry mouth, but can give you the spittle you need to get those staccato sounds from your harp.
@leatherlips thanks for the info man, I did have a couple of beers (bottle) before the gig...
@stevelegh hey man, yes we had 2 rehearsal sessions, played the song about 3 or 4 times each rehearsal...
@tookatooka thanks man, yes they asked me to play again. I think they have a gig at the Blues Kitchen in Camden soon and I might play there, they want me to play a different song too... don't know what though! ---------- Cheers, Pedro
Yeah, you sounded really great man! I also love that rollin' rockabilly groove the band's got going on. The singer has a really good voice for this kind of music too... Altogether, I would have been really really really pleased to walk into my local muisic venue and see a band like this.. ---------- == I S A A C ==
Leatherlips is spot on about the beer, I've had the unfortunate experience as well. If you want to drink alcohol, have hard liquor (in moderation of course), or better yet don't drink booze at all.
The best thing to do is relax (easy to say) and jam often. I hadn't jammed for 3 months, and I had stage jitters. When I jam semi-regularly, they disappear. That said, you appeared relaxed & played well - which is good!
@peduarte - Great job!! I too had my first gig last Thursday night at Mojitos in New Orleans thanks to Harvey (harvyharps). It was nerve-wracking, but I really enjoyed it. Harvey had a lot to do with it - he really encouraged me to get up there and go at it. Better to get it out of the way early - eh?
