The enevitable happened today. Pulled out an "A" Sp20 and kerplunk goes the 4 draw. Was an older Harp but runnin short in the "A" department soooo..... What harp to buy. Tried suzuki bluesmaster ... really liked them but seemed to go through them way to fast playable but gets expensive seemed to last not nearly as well as the SP20's. Thought about seydel blues sessions... pricier my question is this are they a larger embrochure harp like a Lee Oskar ( which I would love to love but i don't) Growin up around MB'S and Bluesharps i need the smaller harp. Suggestions greatly appreciated. Also does cleaing prolong harp life? Insert your opinion or fact based scientific evidence here ________
If love these blues play em like ya feels em

Opinion - most reed breakages are probably caused either by too much breath pressure, or deep file marks across the reed, or a combo of the two.
I think cleaning could shorten or lengthen the life depending on how you do it, like certain materials don't stand up to the dishwasher, etc.
The way I clean mine is pretty dry. I just take them apart and scrape the crap off the comb with finger nail, q tip or whatever won't scratch it. Cover plates I lick once and buff clean with a cloth or paper towel.

man me too always the 4 draw. if you got a busted B harp you can take the 4 blow off it and put it on the A harp blow. but yeah always that one. maybe you can buy a single reed.

Reed replacement is daunting any other model reeds fit a Sp20. I am actually thinking of going all Sp20. I have always liked MB's But the wood comb is less appealing than it once was.

well an A is important A and D seem to get blown out the fastest. F# lasts forever because its never used. buy A's on the ebay lottery and rebuild them. i just went back to marine bands. for acoustic and hand effects i think they blow special 20s away.
